Reviews - Willhoite's
Reviews summary
Nestled in the heart of Grapevine, this historic restaurant-bar offers a unique blend of ambiance and comfort. Patrons appreciate the friendly service and appealing decor, highlighting a lovely atmosphere perfect for a casual night out. While some dishes shine, such as the acclaimed banana pudding, others leave diners wanting more—particularly the chicken fried steak. Unfortunately, the lingering smell of smoke may deter non-smokers, though it's a cozy spot for those seeking a relaxed vibe. With live music and a vibrant scene, it's an inviting destination that has both charm and room for improvement.

For the past 20 years, I've had the pleasure of enjoying delicious food, lively music, dancing, fun birthday celebrations, entertaining performances, and, most importantly, forming friendships with the wonderful staff at Willhoite's. Guests can kick off their visit with a satisfying meal, enjoy some great music, and then unwind with a beer. When the amazing bartender Kathy Lewis is on duty, she’ll even craft a deligh... What Roscoe Waelchi dislikes about Willhoite's:
The service was good, but the food left much to be desired. The chicken fried steak tasted like leftover scraps that were refried. The entire place has an ashtray smell, making it more suitable for a bar than a restaurant aiming to welcome non-smokers. The historic atmosphere is beautiful, and I really enjoyed that aspect, but this spot is better suited for smokers to keep as their retreat. View all feedback.

A friend recommended this restaurant to me. I ended up not eating here. There are 2 main reasons why. First, apparently you can still smoke in restaurants/bars in Grapevine. When I walked in I was immediately greeted with the smell of cigarette smoke fromthe bar area. Shocked me. I asked about a non-smoking area and was pointed to go to the back area of the restaurant. Kindastunned. Second, I?ve been trying to eat healthy. Avoiding meat and friend foods. This is not the place for that. Burgers andfried food and meat were the main things in the menu. There was a salad bar as an option but I wanted more than a salad. I endedup going elsewhere to eat. I?m sure the food is good, just not what I was after.
We had the upstairs reserved for a party. We arrived in slow parade, not all at once. Personally was one of the last ones to arrive. My entire service the only interaction I had with the server at all whatsoever was bringing me my first drink and herwanting payment. Not only did she not bother to refill anybody's drink that I saw, they completely ran out of sweet tea.... thisis Texas they ran out of sweet tea!! But she still went ahead and added her gratuity to the ticket without asking her anythingelse because we were a party that sit together that's all we were. we did not order together. To say she didn't jump throughhoops would be a gross understatement she didn't do anything but bring me one tea. And couldn't even make more. No I will not beback. Who runs out of sweet tea in Texas? Let me rephrase that who runs out of Sweet tea in Texas that wants to stay inbusiness?
The service was nice, but the food fell short of expectations. The chicken fried steak tasted like it had been reheated from leftovers. Additionally, the pervasive smell of smoke filled the entire restaurant, giving it more of a bar vibe rather than that of a dining establishment trying to appeal to non-smokers. While the historic ambiance was charming, the presence of smokers detracted from the overall experience.
This restaurant in Grapevine is outstanding and rich in history. The food is incredibly delicious; my Grandpa would come here for breakfast every morning for more than 10 years. They also feature live music and have an upstairs area with pool tables. If you're exploring Main Street, bar hopping, or simply in search of a fantastic meal, this is a must-visit spot.
This is a fantastic place to relax and unwind. The bar offers ample space, and the staff is incredibly friendly. Additionally, you can enjoy a meal in the restaurant, which makes this spot stand out. Unlike most bars or restaurants, they permit smoking in the bar area. There’s also plenty of outdoor seating. If you're nearby, be sure to check it out — you may be pleasantly surprised!

The restaurant boasts an incredible staff who remain friendly even during bustling festival times. The bartender is hospitable and offers a diverse range of beverages. The buffet features an extensive array of dishes.
This was my first visit to Texas, and our group of 12 was greeted by a very friendly server with short hair. I think her name was Micah, but I could be wrong.

Willhoite's is a fantastic and historic bar in Grapevine. The food is so delicious that my grandfather has been coming here every morning for the past 10 years. They offer live music and even have a second floor with pool tables. Whether you're exploring Main Street, bar hopping, or looking for a great meal, this place is a must-visit.
Nice chill environment, great decor, food was good, and service was timely. Would love to experience at night with a different crowd. Price was worth the meal and the banana pudding was amazing! Enjoyed the view: inside the restaurant and outside.

Cool place to unwind. Bar has plenty of space and the staff is friendly. Also for dinner at the restaurant. This is not your usual bar or restaurant. It's a unique place. They allow you to smoke in the bar area. Numerous outdoor seats are also available. If you are in the area, check it easy, find it interesting.
