A friend recommended this restaurant to me. I ended up not eating here. There are 2 main reasons why. First, apparently you can still smoke in restaurants/bars in Grapevine. When I walked in I was immediately greeted with the smell of cigarette smoke fromthe bar area. Shocked me. I asked about a non-smoking area and was pointed to go to the back area of the restaurant. Kindastunned. Second, I?ve been trying to eat healthy. Avoiding meat and friend foods. This is not the place for that. Burgers andfried food and meat were the main things in the menu. There was a salad bar as an option but I wanted more than a salad. I endedup going elsewhere to eat. I?m sure the food is good, just not what I was after.
We had the upstairs reserved for a party. We arrived in slow parade, not all at once. Personally was one of the last ones to arrive. My entire service the only interaction I had with the server at all whatsoever was bringing me my first drink and herwanting payment. Not only did she not bother to refill anybody's drink that I saw, they completely ran out of sweet tea.... thisis Texas they ran out of sweet tea!! But she still went ahead and added her gratuity to the ticket without asking her anythingelse because we were a party that sit together that's all we were. we did not order together. To say she didn't jump throughhoops would be a gross understatement she didn't do anything but bring me one tea. And couldn't even make more. No I will not beback. Who runs out of sweet tea in Texas? Let me rephrase that who runs out of Sweet tea in Texas that wants to stay inbusiness?
The service was nice, but the food fell short of expectations. The chicken fried steak tasted like it had been reheated from leftovers. Additionally, the pervasive smell of smoke filled the entire restaurant, giving it more of a bar vibe rather than that of a dining establishment trying to appeal to non-smokers. While the historic ambiance was charming, the presence of smokers detracted from the overall experience.
This restaurant in Grapevine is outstanding and rich in history. The food is incredibly delicious; my Grandpa would come here for breakfast every morning for more than 10 years. They also feature live music and have an upstairs area with pool tables. If you're exploring Main Street, bar hopping, or simply in search of a fantastic meal, this is a must-visit spot.
This is a fantastic place to relax and unwind. The bar offers ample space, and the staff is incredibly friendly. Additionally, you can enjoy a meal in the restaurant, which makes this spot stand out. Unlike most bars or restaurants, they permit smoking in the bar area. There’s also plenty of outdoor seating. If you're nearby, be sure to check it out — you may be pleasantly surprised!
