Batch Espresso - Glen Eira
Batch Espresso
Description
Nestled in a bustling brunch district, this café offers a mix of experiences that leaves diners divided. While some patrons rave about the tasty and generous portions, particularly the pea and halloumi croquettes and well-executed scrambled eggs, others express disappointment with lukewarm chai and less satisfactory dishes. Service seems to vary, with some guests appreciating the friendly atmosphere, while others find it lacking. Although the café promises good value and a vibrant community vibe, inconsistencies in food quality and service raise concerns. Overall, this spot is worth a visit, but diners should be prepared for potential surprises on the menu.

Coming to brunch at Batch is my favorite way to start the weekend. The aesthetic is very cool, and I love seeing the art all along the walls and the nods to NZ. No matter how busy it gets, the staff are attentive, kind, and friendly (especially Christy), and they even remember my coffee order. The coffee is fantastic, the food is delicious, and the portion sizes are great. I love that you can have dishes as-is or you can make them vegan friendly (always helpful when eating with a group of friends)! Since it’s located near the botanic gardens and the beach, I also love being able to take out anything I want for picnics. Will be coming back here again; highly recommend. Dietary restrictions: They have a lot of different options and are understanding helpful regarding dietary restrictions. Edit: I forgot to mention their gluten free meals and desserts! I just enjoyed the gluten free raspberry coconut cake, it was perfect with my flat white.
One of the longer running cafes in the neighbourhood, and locally regarded as a Balaclava institution . Serving speciality coffee and a varied brunch menu. Batch still has the same retro aesthetic it has had for as long as I 've known it, with NZ memorabilia on the walls, and a comfortable welcoming neighbourhood vibe. Food is excellent, a cut above the usual cafe standards, with better than typical healthy and vegetarian options. Coffee is from experienced Melbourne roasters Coffee Supreme, with house blend on the espresso machine plus the highlight of a single origin filter available on Moccamaster. All up, this is a perfect neighbourhood café with a welcoming atmosphere that does food and coffee exceptionally well. Tables available along pavement as well as inside. Dog friendly. Packed on weekends. Service: Dine in Meal type: Brunch Price per person: $20–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian options: Vegetarians are spoiled for choice with 15 of the 18 dishes on the menu vegetarian (often with bacon, smoked salmon etc as optional add ons), and there are several vegan options available.
