Let me just say this first: my server, Chase, was absolutely amazing! He has a great energy and is very attentive and helpful! Great job!! Texas born and Texas proud, Cotton Patch Cafe has been in business for more than 30 years.. the food isusually pretty good. Tonight was a little different. I started with the brisket queso and chips.. it was delicious! QuesoBlanco with a bit of brisket and a drizzle of barbecue sauce.. it was excellent! Then I had the Shiner Bock beer battered fishand chips. In true pub food fashion, the three fish filets were thickly battered and fried... but they were a little over doneand tasted burnt. Caesar salad was perfect! Fresh and crisp with just the right amount of dressing.. Probably won't do seafoodnext time. I'll just stick to the favorites..
This was my first visit to the restaurant, and it was recommended by my stepdaughter. I had a great experience! The prices were reasonable, and the portion sizes were perfect. Unfortunately, I couldn't finish everything I ordered. The buttered buns we had were incredibly hot, straight out of the oven—absolutely delicious! We were celebrating our 20th anniversary, and we will definitely return next time we're in the area. By the way, our server was Chase—he was fantastic!
My husband and I dined at this restaurant for the first time today (we're not from Denison). We arrived shortly after 10:30, and although it was quite busy, we were seated quickly. They treated us to some complimentary bread rolls with butter, which were fresh, soft, and warm. For my appetizer, I ordered fried green tomatoes since I had always wanted to try them, and I was not disappointed! They were crispy, not mushy at all, and had a nice kick to them. The avocado ranch that accompanied them was surprisingly delicious. For my main course, I chose the chicken fried chicken, along with broccoli rice casserole and garlic mashed potatoes topped with white gravy. I just had soda to drink. The chicken fried chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, packed with great flavor. The mashed potatoes were creamy, and the broccoli rice casserole was very tasty. My husband went for sweet tea with lemon, chicken fried brisket, a loaded baked potato, and a salad. He shared a bit of his meal with me. I’m usually picky about sweet tea and don't often order it at restaurants because it tends to be overly sweet, but here it was just perfect with the right amount of sweetness. The chicken fried brisket was a first for us; it was crispy on the outside and soft without being dry on the inside, and it had fantastic flavor. The salad was a good portion as well. I’m not sure if they make their own croutons, but that was my favorite part of the salad. Overall, everything exceeded our expectations. If you haven't tried dining here yet, I would definitely recommend it!
Before we dive into the food, I want to give a shout-out to our server, Ireland. Even though she was busy and had worked the lunch shift, she was incredibly attentive and welcoming. I also overheard an interesting conversation at another table—one server mentioned he had been coming to Cotton Patch since before he was born because his mother worked there while she was pregnant! How cool is that? Now, onto the food! The queso here is some of the best I’ve ever had. I know that sounds like a bold claim, but this brisket queso is absolutely irresistible! Our main courses were also fantastic. We ordered the chicken-fried brisket and the chicken-fried steak. I even told my partner that the green beans tasted like they came straight from a family reunion—they were that good! For dessert, I couldn't resist trying Mama's cake, a delicious combination of yellow cake and cheesecake. It’s definitely rich, but oh, was it tasty! If you’re passing through or just looking for something different, this chain will not disappoint.
