What RMossie likes about The Screes Inn:
First visit. Very welcoming staff. Bar and dining area had a good mix of locals and weekend visitors. Extensive menu. Food was very good and service good too. Only downside for me was although food orders were taken at the table, drinks had to be ordered at the bar which felt a bit disjointed. Would happily visit again View all feedback. What Sunnyraydiver doesn't like about The Screes Inn:
Good food and great little pub, accommodation needs updating and more cleaning, standard approach to breakfast, need options especially with fruit juice as we had a diabetic and someone else who didn’t like orange juice there was no alternative View all feedback.

read moreNestled in the picturesque Eskdale, The Strands Inn and its sister establishment, The Screes Inn, offer warm hospitality and a welcoming atmosphere that draws both locals and visitors. Diners rave about the extensive menu, highlighting the outstanding vegetarian options and hearty dishes, like the celebrated vegetarian roast. While the food impresses, some aspects, including inconsistent opening hours and a need for improved accommodation cleanliness, need attention. However, the diligent staff and thoughtful service, paired with a fine selection of local ales, ensure a memorable experience—making it a worthwhile stop for anyone exploring the Lake District.
