Tastings - Charlottesville

Tastings has a varied menu and it's always very good. Tonight we had the smoked trout appetizer. The trout was done just right and accompanied with golden (yellow? beets. Excellent! Main courses were Seafood Louis and Scallops. Both were scrunptious. We had the Chardonnay wine flight which went well with the seafood. Service as always was excellent.

Killer wine store. Bill has all the best wines at the best prices. Only serves Lunch and Dinner a couple of days/nights a week. Sign up for the email list so you don't miss them

One of the best wine shops I’ve ever visited! We purchased two Pinots from Burgundy and one Cabernet Franc, and all of them were fantastic!

My only regret is that I didn’t follow the clerk's suggestion to purchase a second bottle of the wine he recommended (which he wisely predicted I would regret not doing). Small, independent shops thrive on the expertise of their staff and the advice they offer to customers. This place truly excels.

Don't let the flashy decor at this restaurant fool you; the wine selection is truly impressive. Since Alley Light was packed on Saturday night, I opted for the local wine bar instead, and it was a great decision! This isn't a high-end wine bar with various flights and cheese or chocolate pairings; however, it does have an extensive food menu. While you can order a glass of wine, I highly recommend exploring the store and choosing a bottle instead! They offer at least 300 bottles, featuring a range of local wines and European selections. We enjoyed a glass of red wine and port, and the owner, a friendly man with a white beard, is clearly a wine expert with 44 years of experience in the business. He kindly assisted us in selecting a delightful dessert wine, which we took home and loved. Overall, I had a wonderful experience, but I believe the restaurant could benefit from a makeover with updated furniture and a more streamlined menu focused on small food pairings. The Tastings have a lot of potential for an exceptional overall experience!
