Having dined exclusively at Stata for quite some time, finally trying Koch Café was a delightful experience. While the menu selection is more limited, I noticed that the food is prepared with greater attention to detail and is of overall higher quality. Though it is on the pricier side, this isn't unique to Koch, as many places on campus tend to be expensive. It's definitely worth a visit to diversify your dining options on campus.
The sandwiches are of excellent quality and reasonably priced. It's a great deal, especially if you're on the MIT campus.
Ridiculously overpriced. Just head over to the Forbes Café in Stata for much better prices.
Edit. They surprisingly improved their service: no food rationing anymore! Choose whatever you want and then pay by weight. If they add a free water source like , will give them 5 stars. No free water source. They charge 10c for a cup and send you to a potable water fountain across the hall . This is surprising, free water is a basic health need.Food rationing /portioning and limited variety of hot entrees. Koch cafe is basically a Soviet cafeteria of 80s. I really do not understand why I cannot customize my own meal and pay by weight, like in Sloan cafe. Instead, I am forced to choose among 3 standard hot entrees served by a dummy who is doing nothing other than putting standardized meals into boxes. His time can be better spent, or Koch cafe's costs could be made more efficient.
