Reviews - Bacaro
Reviews summary
Nestled in a hidden lane behind Italian and Sons in Canberra, Bacaro Wine Bar offers a cozy escape with a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a night out. Guests appreciate the extensive wine list and wood-fired pizzas, though gluten-free options are limited. The ambiance is enhanced by a fireplace, making it an inviting spot, especially in colder months. While the food is generally well-received, some find it pricey for the quality, and service can be hit-or-miss. Bacaro primarily stands out as a charming venue for wine enthusiasts and intimate gatherings, set away from the hustle and bustle.

A great place for a glass of wine, some cheese and a chat. Nice relaxed atmostphere, excellent service. Prices are quite expensive. We are not wine connoisseurs so hit the cheaper end of the menu 40 $60 per bottle) and were quite happy with...what we got. If wine is really your thing you will be well catered for here, but bring your wallet as the wine prices climb steeply. A shared wood fired margarita pizza was the... View all feedback.
What Berniece Moen dislikes about Bacaro:
we were here a few times after we were introduced from friends to bacaro. this weinbar is located in the lane behind italian and suns cozy and relaxed. the personal is friendly and professional. there is an extensive wine map and eat to share (think wood fired pizzas.) although and unfortunately there are not many gluten-free options that think twice about coming here when I am hungry. but would definitely recommend... This hidden gem of a wine bar in Canberra's back alley is truly amazing. Open late and serving some of the most delicious wood-fired pizza in the ACT, paired with a wonderful selection of wines and a cozy, intimate atmosphere. It's the ideal spot for a date night or meeting up with a friend. A visit here is definitely recommended.
The pizzas are pretty good at this restaurant. They are even better during their happy hour from 5-7pm on Thursday to Saturday, where you can enjoy unlimited pizzas for just $40.
I visited this place early on a Friday night for pizza and drinks. It was quite busy, with some people waiting around 6:30pm. Luckily, I arrived at 6pm and was seated right away, although it was the last table available. The space was a bit cramped, with the initial seating being at a tiny table that was uncomfortable. Fortunately, we were able to move to a normal-sized table, which made the experience much more pleasant. The wait staff were friendly, though a little slow due to the packed crowd. Overall, expect to wait a bit due to the busy atmosphere.
Great little hidden venue on Lonsdale Street! They have a lovely wine list, you really can’t go wrong. Attentive staff, and great cocktails. The food menu is simple but good for a light meal. Get in early because it fills up quickly.

A shared wood fired margarita pizza was the bulk of our meal and was fairly good, but you can find better from other woodfired pizza places. We rounded off the night by selecting a couple of cheeses which were mind meltingly amazing. I'd reccomend this to anyone who wants a nice intimate night out for wine and sides.
Finally a proper bar! Fantastic bombardino and fantastic service as well! Grazie Manolo! I'll be back soon!
This little bar located at the rear of Italian Sons, Braddon, shares the kitchen and wine list to offer wonderful bar food and excellent service. We've dined here twice and sampled the very good food and casual ambience. Tight on space but big on...atmosphere, the staff are excellent and the buzz well suited to that of a modern Milanese speakeasy. It's fun in the best Italian sense.
There is so much to love about this little weinbarian. I've seen and eaten there and I'm not sure I'll be back in a hurry. the camein was cozy and the wee and the cheese were delicious. we were at 17 o'clock. with our 2 children who have been very good. it didn't feel like they were overly welcomed. the waiter seemed uninterested. that was the waiter I paid to, and he was super friendly. also remembered that we mt ainslie wandered about this afternoon. that was a beautiful conclusion. the price of the wee is painful. a handful of under $100 then the rest at the $100 $200 brand. the cheese was delicious! I'll try the unlimited pizza nights. if they want small, expensive and "up-market", that is their place.
I'm a great fan of the Trimboli establishments they set a high and consistent standard for Italian food in the national capital, from fine dining at Mezzalira, the buzz and great food at Italian and Sons, and their terrific cafe, da Rosario. So it's...strange that I've only just sampled their other eatery, Bacaro Wine Bar. Bacaro nestles at the back of Italian and Sons. I recently had an early dinner there when I (foolishly) fronted up at Italian and Sons without a booking. We could have sat at the bar in Italian and Sons, but that's a very tight space. Instead, we took up their suggestion and tried Bacaro. Delightful. My wife and I shared a couple of excellent starters portobello mushroom and seared scallops, followed by a puttanesca pizza and caprese salad to share. Plus a nice bottle of a smooth chianti. There's a fire going and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. And space the tables aren't squashed in. Bacaro is not cheap, but the food and wine are really good and all done with the authentic Trimboli flair.
