Was Cynthia F at Sam's Bbq a mag?
I've been dining here for three years, and I consistently find the food to be excellent. The meat is tender, the desserts are delicious, and the staff is friendly. The tea and lemonade are also quite refreshing! This place is definitely worth a visit. View all feedback.
What mark banta dislikes about Sam's Bbq:
The meats are pretty good, but I've been there 4 times and the serving of the sides are a Joke!! Every time I go the servings are smaller and smaller. Beans and okra are not expensive , but these people act like it's gold!!! View all feedback.

Very friendly. Just went to eat. There's a bar pool tables. Didn't do that. The food was good with great service.
The best thing there was spicy pasta salad; pretty sad when you know we're talking about Texas BBQ.The brisket was sliced about 1/16 of an inch and so incredibly dry it was like eating soft jerky. The jalapeño sausage had decent flavor but they somehow managed to make it dry also. The fresh hand cut fries would have been good if they hadn't been insanely salty. And because we are in the south you expect the ranch to be ranch; it tasted like a cup of sour cream with ranch seasoning sprinkled in it. And the fried okra was OFF.The sweet tea was good though.Save yourself the disappointment ?It's a cafeteria style restaurant but it's hard to decide what you'll be least disappointed with when choosing. The kicker was the pickle and onion bar on the side that looked like it was about to be carried away by the sheer number of gnats flying around the uncovered basins of little extras.
The new BBq place in Boyd is really decent. It is slightly above average for a lot of the BBQ in Wise county. Now let's be fair, this is in what I call the everyday BBQ joints. We aren't comparing to Heim, Franklin or Snows. This isn't luxury BBq and it doesn't have luxury prices! We walked in and the employees were nice! They asked if we had ever been there before, gave us sampling's, and explained how the ordering worked. They even offered us the German sausage that wasn't on the menu! So... 1/2 lb German sausage, 1/2 lb moist brisket, and 1/2 lb pork ribs! They have 3 sauces: regular, spicy and regional. The brisket was dry. When I order moist (fatty) and it's dry, I just cannot help you. The ribs were okay, but nothing to write home about. The German sausage was dry while tasty, and had a hard to chew casing on it. My wife didn't eat more than 1 bite. The unchewable casing slid down my throat and choked me... I had to pull it out. The sauces were all very similar, nothing distinctive between them. Bottom line... everything was dry. It's okay if you are comfortable with average. 3 Stars is still better than much of the competition!
