Go Go Gumbo is one of our favorite Metroplex restaurants. Every entree is out of this world good. Their servers are so good too. As much as we miss eating inside and as much as some people might disagree with their pandemic curbside delivery only service, we admire them for trying to make it safe for us as well as for their employees.
First and foremost, the hostess was rude! When I asked about our seating after waiting over 30 minutes and seeing two smaller parties seated before us—each with four people while we had six—he acted like he knew what he was doing but basically refused to seat our party to keep two extra seats available. The food is average, but because of the location, it stands out (in Fort Worth, it probably wouldn’t survive). The prices are high for a place that feels more like a diner. On a positive note, it’s BYOB.
Gogo Gumbo delivered near perfection for our group of 12. We were promptly seated and received exceptional service throughout the evening. Even on a Thursday night, the staff’s attention to detail stood out and truly deserved praise. The food from their menu was delicious, and the house-made desserts were a major highlight. If only the coleslaw had been seasoned better, it would have easily earned a full 5-star rating.
We've dined at this restaurant three times since relocating to the area. To be fair, my friends are quite passionate about how amazing the authentic Cajun cuisine is. Nonetheless, I don’t believe it fully lives up to the hype.
