We had high expectations for Seastar Fish Chips based on the positive Google reviews, but our experience was disappointing. We arrived at 1 PM and found that nothing was cooked, which made us a bit uneasy. We ordered haddock, chips, and mushy peas for nearly £15. We watched as the fish was battered and placed in the fryer, but there was no sizzle or sound of hot oil, which suggested the oil wasn't hot enough for proper frying. Having run a restaurant and prepared thousands of fish myself, I knew this would likely lead to soggy batter. After a wait of 12 minutes—normally just 3 minutes for hot oil—we received our meal. As anticipated, the batter was yellow, soggy, and nearly inedible. The chips were okay but lacked any crispiness. I'm now concerned about an upset stomach later. Overall, I cannot recommend this place unless it's busy and the fryers are at the right temperature. Food: 2, Service: 3, Atmosphere: 1, Meal Type: Lunch, Price per person: £10–20.

I visited the takeaway and inquired if the fish was coated in beer batter. I was informed that they do not serve halal food, even though the fish itself is halal. I found this response quite strange, so I would recommend that Muslim customers avoid this establishment. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Meal Type: Takeaway Dietary Restrictions: Not halal

The cheesy chips were lukewarm, and the cheese didn't melt properly, which was disappointing. Food: 3, Service: 3, Atmosphere: 3. Note: This was a takeaway order.
