Ranch Drive-in - Bothell
Ranch Drive-in
Description
Ranch Drive Inn in Bothell offers a nostalgic dining experience with classic burgers, crinkle-cut fries, onion rings, and real ice cream shakes that fans have loved for decades. The food is fresh and flavorful, maintaining consistency over 30+ years. Friendly staff enhance the visit, though some customers report issues with order accuracy and limited payment options. Training for young employees and communication among management appear lacking, impacting staff morale. While vegetarian choices are minimal, the restaurant preserves an old-school charm in a changing cityscape. Prospective diners should be cautious with seafood dishes and expect a traditional, casual atmosphere.

We visited Bothell for a late birthday getaway and decided to try this restaurant. Unfortunately, I've been sick since Thursday night and am still feeling unwell, particularly as a diabetic who has been vomiting. My stomach hasn’t hurt yet, but I plan to see a doctor tomorrow. I ordered the fish meal, but it was undercooked; I noticed the fish was slimy after taking one bite. The onion rings were cooked so hard that I couldn't eat them either. I would advise against dining here, especially if you're ordering fish. They need to improve their cooking practices or change their oil. This experience has unfortunately ruined my mini vacation, and now I need to seek medical attention when I return home.
As for vegetarian options, there aren’t many burgers available—just one that allows you to choose your toppings. However, as I mentioned earlier, it’s definitely better than the veggie burger at Red Robin. It’s not a fake meat patty or anything like that.
My 17 years old worked here last summer (2023 . His first job and it was not a pleasant experience. 3 siblings ran this place and it seems like they do not communicate with each other? It 's always, I do not know, I have to ask M? . My son was supposed to receive 4 hrs (or 3 of training and he was given about 30 mins and put right to making milkshakes when the place got busy! They never resumed his training! One of the sibling said my son was great! Always with a great attitude and never complain about doing the dirty chores ; the other sibling said he is slower than most of the employee. Duh! You owed him a training! You had him making milk shakes after 30 minutes of training to figure things out by himself, figure out drinks people put in their mouth! They hired a lot of kids to fill their busy summer, then cut them off, sending them home (after 30 mins, it does not justify gas! without pay when it 's quiet. From working 4 hrs 3-4 days per week to one 3 hrs shift in 10 days with no communication! When I spoke with two of the siblings, they seem nice but in reality, they owe it to these kids of a great first job experience. Making milk shakes after whopping 30 mins of training! My kid only learned in adulting class in his senior year (2024 in high school to make grilled cheese sandwiches. Scary to know department of health allows this. We stopped by as family to support the business before one of our son 's shift, the female manager (sibling owner took the order, knew he works there and didn 't even bother to give him his entitled discount, speaks integrity of a company 's couture. They have a very old computer system which do not allow tipping with credit card and it seems it 's not worth the company 's effort looking into an upgrade for their employees benefit? With today 's society 80% of transactions are made by credit card, my son average $1.70 tip each shift, that is $0.42 an hour. Tipping with them is only allowed in cash. His self esteem was hurt thinking it was him. This summer, he started working at the burger giant franchise and told us his boss wouldn 't let him touch anything until he finished the training. Hours are consistent and they have senior staffs mentor him every shift. They love him there, so it really sounds like a you problem Ranch Drive-in ! Be kind to these young adults looking for their first gig, give them the right training and welcome them to the working life. Help them understand that being sent home or asked if they like to leave is not an early school release, they will go home without pay.
