You will not find this gem if your not looking for it. Hidden in a little strip mall Sage is a definite must try restaurant. I had the perfectly cooked duck with a light blueberry sauce, creamy carrot goodness, mashed tatters, and for veggies squash with Brussel Sprouts. Top it off with a nice Zinfandel and friendly service and we have 5 stars!!

What an amazing little gem of a find in Bishop! Yes, service is a bit on the slow side, but not without extremely courteous tending to tables and absolutely delicious food! We started with the bruschetta. Just wow! Could have had multiple servings of it. The flavor profile was spot on, and you could taste and see how fresh the tomatoes and basil were. Just the right amount of balsamic to leave me wanting a bowl full : . And the bread was sliced just to the right thickness and perfectly toasted. Caesar salad was equally well balanced. The lettuce was all super crispy, no wilted or outer leaves...romaine hearts all the way. The dressing was not overwhelming, again, great balanced flavor profile. I guess if I were to find a negative I would have loved a few more croutons. Finished off with a filet mignon and braised lamb shank. First, the serving portions are generous, especially given the reasonable price. My party ordered the filet well-done which is tricky to not cook to toughness. It was superb. Held it's delicious flavor, and maintained a juicy tenderness. The lamb shank meat literally fell off the bone. Had the perfect amount of garlic, and the sweet onions balanced the gaminess of the lamb nicely. Definitely would return to try other items on their menu, and I heard nothing but positive comments from those around us as well.

Saturday night, 645pm party of 3. Great service, good pace. Our server was the wife of the chef. Toasty bread and perfectly salted butter. This place offers homemade salad dressing on all their salads. I had the Caesar and it was fantastic. My boyfriend and sis had the ranch and balsamic, both thought they were fresh and tasty. We also had the Brie en croute with something like pear applesauce and plenty of fruit! Delicious. Our entrees ordered: pecan crusted pork tenderloin, chicken prosciutto, and lamb shank. All absolutely wonderful. Too full for dessert. Great find for us!

We arrived in Bishop at about 6:30 and began looking for a place that could accommodate a gluten allergy. The reviews and photos of Sage on Yelp were pretty compelling, so I called and asked about gluten free menu items. The person on the phone said most of what they prepare is gluten free. The restaurant was busy, but he told us he could seat us at 7:30. We arrived and the hostess said she had a table, but if we preferred, we could wait a few minutes and have a booth. We really appreciated that! She seated us about ten minutes later. Our server, Selena, was knowledgeable about gluten issues and helped us with the menu. We each ordered a glass of the Eastern Sierra Cellars Red, which I believe they considered their house wine. It was light like a pinot noir with good fruit flavors without being a fruit bowl. I ordered the special, which was a filet mignon with prawns, seasonal veggies, puréed carrots and mashed potatoes. I asked for the filet to be cooked medium rare, and it was perfect! The reduction sauce was delicious. A wonderful meal. My wife ordered the bison meat loaf and was also pleased with her gluten-free choice. She said it was moist, and the sauce was tomato based with a good balance of sweet and savory flavors. What a wonderful experience! This meal is what we'll think of when we remember Bishop! Thank you!

We chose Sage for our post-hike steak dinner after 9 days in the Sierra backcountry. The Yelp reviews guided us here, and I am happy to report that this is a good place to go for a well marinated and prepared steak dinner in a white tablecloth restaurant. The service was just right. The food was just what we wanted! The salad, garlic mashed potatoes and the 7 oz medium rare steak were prepared well. I ordered a glass of Edna Valley merlot to accompany the beef and enjoyed the accompaniment. The service was prompt, courteous, and well-timed. I would happily return here for future meals while in the area.
