The guy who took my o... read more A great diner downtown Berkeley. No frills, delicious well prepared breakfast and yummy breakfast burritos. Also the staff is so friendly! The guy who took my order knew I liked my eggs over easy only the second time I went there. Highly recommend for tasty breakfast downtown. It seems popular for lunch too, especially with the high schoolers, so I'll have to branch out from eggs soon!

I worked down the street for 3 1/2 years I ate there multiple times a week. I just ate there a few days ago; while looking around at the dozens of restaurants in Berkeley to choose from, my friend I both yell, Pollo 's. The cool thing about Pollo 's are the MENU the owners two older guys that seem to always be there. SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS OWNERS. The MENU is hard to explain there is something for everyone: burritos, salmon, steak, BBQ plate, breakfasts (all day long), best burgers fries plus NY deli style stuff. I had a 1/2 lb BACON cheeseburger w/fries. It WAS EPIC! Great charcoal grill flavor. LUV their fries. I don 't understand how they get them so crispy. When I worked nearby, I felt very virtuous when I could order, ...just 1/2 order of fries... , when what I really wanted to do was shove the old guy out of the way and stuff my gullet. Next time your down at the Freight Salvage or Half Priced Books or getting off BART, stop by. They are open ALL DAY. You will be very, very happy.

The Gyros are yummy and I like to bring a few home to surprise my growing (now grown) son's (now with one off to college..Son) I highly recommend this long time Berkeley treasure.

It is a great choice for a small... read more Pollo’s is a small diner place near the BART station in Berkeley. It serves Burritos, Burger, Sandwiches, Breakfast and Gyros. It is a great choice for a small restaurant. I found it disappointing that they were not a credit card, but that's not too big a deal. Anyway, I was here twice. The first time I got the gyro plate, and I thought it was quite delicious, with a good amount of meat over rice. It comes with a salad on the side, hummus, and some sauce that complements the gyro well. It is also quite complete. Next time I came, I decided to get the breakfast Burrito. That was a little disappointing. The cashier asks if you want sour cream, cheese and black beans, but he doesn't tell you that they cost extra. Luckily I asked. Unfortunately, these are important ingredients in a burrito that should be included anyway. Cheese for a dollar! What a demolition I think. I still got cheese and sour cream with my breakfast Burrito that had beef in it. What it didn't have is egg, or rather every breakfast in there. They either made my order wrong, or they have a terrible idea of what a breakfast burrito should have. The Burrito himself was decently big and pretty good, but not what I wanted. Anyway, I was a little disappointed with the second time.
