Friendly staff at reception, we also had breakfast here which was continental style, plenty of choice and lovely fresh bread. Easy access via the lift straight into the centre of town. We ate at the restaurant on our second night (it's closed on Sundays). Beautiful setting under the trees, a good quality meal, well cooked, lovely waiting staff. We would definitely stay here again, it was a perfect 2 night break on our journey to the Alps. The only problem was the lack of air conditioning in the room as we were there during a very hot week. Well-prepared and well-presented fis... read more Saturday lunch for two people in the garden terrace of the brasserie located at a historic site in the middle of old Basel. Well-prepared and well-presented fish dishes from the “à la carte Summer” menu: a nicely refined version of the sea bass ceviche, with lime and melon, as starter, and an excellent main-course dish composed of scallops with squids in sauce vierge and spaghetti of zucchini (my favorite dish, see the attached image). Delicious mix of coffee and mini deserts coming with the Café gourmand Au Violon . Very good wine list, allowing the choice of single glasses of white wines to pair with the diverse fish dishes. Courteous and efficient service. Reasonable prices, considering the high quality of food and service, the beauty of the garden terrace and the superb location in the very expensive Basel city.
