Nestled in Wolverhampton, Jivans offers a unique dining experience marked by affordable prices and generous portions. While the decor is simple and could use some modernization, the restaurant compensates with a welcoming atmosphere and attentive service. Diners rave about the flavorful curries, particularly the chicken tikka and balti dishes, but some have noted inconsistencies in spice levels and dish quality in takeout orders. Despite occasional service delays, Jivans remains a top choice for those seeking delicious Indian cuisine without breaking the bank, making it a perfect spot for pre-theater meals or casual dining.

We've just enjoyed the most amazing Indian takeaway delivered directly to our hire boat on the Birmingham canal at Wolverhampton. We cannot thank you enough for finding our boat and delivering a truly scrumptious dinner it was piping hot and perfectly spiced. Thank you so much for making our Sunday evening meal special. xxx View all feedback.
What CurryholicDudley dislikes about Jivan's:
I like different, and whilst I enjoy eating here I have noted that ironically there is a marked similarity in many of the dishes. Jivan 's is the Marmite of Indian restaurants but worth a visit although perhaps not for a special occasion . View all feedback.
Jivan's is the bomb. I spent much of my college years partying in this horrible town and I never once thought to visit this place. Then one of my good friends in my later years promised me this would be a great place for a curry. So initial thoughts is it definitely looks outdated outside and in but surprisingly it is not all that uncomfortable with the old wooden decor. I will admit in around 20 visits here I have only ever order the one dish and that is the minced lamb curry with naan, it is that good! It is a family run restaurant and they are very awesome folk who work here. I have only ever been during the week so not sure what the weekend rush is like.
Food is nice and reasonably priced. Service is very slow and one staff member can only take drinks orders as his English is limited. Decor needs updating. Cheap and simple. Ok if you just want a little meal before night on the town. But allow plenty of time.
We went as a group. The lady who served us was wonderfully welcoming and answered all our questions with humour and patience. There were lots of items we hadn't heard of before which needed explaining. (The menu contains no descriptions).
Waiter very rude, especially to Asian customers. Very friendly to non Asian customers. They really need to brush up on their customer service.
On a wet Tuesday early evening this rather unprepossessing but locally recommended restaurant was empty when I arrived. The staff were great and welcoming which in an empty restaurant is a hard one to pull off. Chicken sag balti was good. Heat is as you choose and the medium I requested was on the mild side. Peshwari naan was spoiled by a sweet sauce better suited to an ice cream dessert. The value however is terrific. With a couple of poppadoms and a pint of Cobra my bill was less than £14. I would go back.
