Excellent carvery, very reasonably priced in refurbished pub and friendly service.
The Sunday roast carvery is priced at £12.50 (£9 on weekdays) and desserts are around £6, making this place very popular. The organization is impressive - order drinks and get your carvery ticket at the bar, then queue for your food.
The best roast dinner with plenty of delicious vegetables, all freshly made at a bargain price of £9.00 on weekdays. I highly recommend this restaurant, you won't want to go anywhere else for a roast dinner after trying it.
Having been twice before, today was a little disappointing. Despite phoning and booking a table there was no record of it. Not enough parking spaces for patrons (and they are building an extension! chaotic and busy atmosphere inside. Nicely decorated and the carvery was decent and tasty for £12, although a long line. It was the busiest I've seen it. My pudding of profiteroles was half a plate of squirty cream and icecream, with actually only 4 small profiteroles. Tables cleared promptly, sometimes being attempted when still eating. There were a lot of staff, some lovely but today we witnessed a lot of them squabbling or moaning amongst themselves loudly in front of customers, they seemed quite stressed and unhappy. Not the makings of a pleasant atmosphere unfortunately.
The staff weren 't very friendly. Meals were reasonably priced, but this disguises an average, rather tasteless, carvery. The potatoes seemed warmed up and were not 'proper ' roasts. Maybe it will be vetter when the building work is finished. Lots of retirees were enjoying themselves buoyed up by the low cost. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch
