Description

**A Culinary Journey at The Nookery: A Mixed Experience**

The Nookery, a long-standing favorite destination for many, has recently experienced a mix of highs and lows. While some guests revel in the rustic charm, friendly service, and delightful dishes like the lamb cutlet and seasonal pie, others lament a decline in quality and service. Reports of inconsistency, lengthy wait times, and a lack of responsiveness mar the overall experience. Nevertheless, the café continues to be praised for its picturesque location, accommodating atmosphere—especially for pet owners—and enjoyable wines. Despite recent criticisms, many still hold hope for a return to its former glory.

We have been coming to The Nookery for more than 20 years and the pie we received today was very poor. Very little meat and lots of onions, celery and carrots. Mashed spud was bland and without any gravy. Salad was the best part of the meal. Previous pies were so good but with new staff they don't know what they are serving their customers. Won't be back again which is a pity as we love the winery but now the cafe is a non event. Service: Dine in

Based on reviews I thought this place was going to be something to remember. Unfortunately I will remember it for the wrong reasons. It took 20 minutes to be seated, long enough to strike up a conversation with other people in the line. It wasn’t overly busy but they did seem to have too few staff. Could be a lot of walkins? Had the tasting plate which was hit and miss. The hummus I think was puréed potato, the squid was raw and oily. Other than that the other items were ok. When mentioning to the staff they did say they were extremely busy. Overall I will give this place a miss.

Four of us had a booking for lunch, we had thoroughly enjoyed the meal, the timing was great, the food and service was excellent, and the wine was enjoyable as well. We had been at the Nookery Cafe previously for a family function and intend to do so again. Thank you. Parking: Have a suitable area for disability parking. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch

The Nookery and Woody Nook Winery have been a favourite of ours for years and we always go there for lunch when in the Margaret River area. Our last visit was in April and we once again enjoyed the tasting plate which has always contained a wide range of tasty morsels, a feast for 2! We were therefore very disappointed yesterday when we received a much smaller tasting plate (for the large plate price) which contained a much reduced selection of meats and no cracker biscuits, undercooked squid which was inedible. We asked for more bread to be able to eat with the cheeses and dips. It seems the Nookery has sacrificed value for economy and service to large groups which is a further disappointment. We always usually buy at least one carton of wine, as the winery has always had a special on when we visited. This time, however, there were no specials available so we just purchased a couple of bottles, adding to our disappointment.

The whole team were super friendly, nothing too much trouble. Outdoor play area cute, good for little ones to explore and the giant Connect 4 was a hit. We sat in the sheltered outdoor area with heaters perfect. Food was good well presented. Particularly good were the side of veggies and the lamb pie. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
