Feedback
We went in this restaurant for a late lunch (approx. 1:30 o'clock) on a weekday without seeing a review before. later we found that this is a “famous” restaurant. our experience in this historic restaurant was however very disappointing. starting with the recipe, maybe. because we look like a walking-in-tourist without reservation, the old man who supervised the table services simply ignored us. Finally, he has assigned us a table for us a bit involuntarily. After we sat down, we were completely forgotten when others waited for other tables. we had to win our hands several times before a personal finally “discovered” and a “German” menu took us on our table. with some effort to understand the menu (with limited translations into English) of ourselves, we have ordered some traditional dishes, including the famous “Wiener schnitzel”. eating is only moderate, but quite expensive. the carving is large, but rather dry, not delicious. for the services, as mentioned above and by some other reviews, they can easily feel the involuntary, paragliding and arrogant setting of the personal, especially if they are not-local. be honest, under all lunch and dinners during our one week stay in Austria, the services this was the worst! a pricy restaurant with such bad services is completely unacceptable. in short, this is a typical pricy and overrated restaurant, from which tourist should avoid. if their hotel / their accommodation suggests gmoakeller to them, better think twice and prepare for a pricy meal before they go.
Very nice cozy place with mostly local but they have an English menu. we had luck to go during the autumn geese season and chose the martini goose special, which was excellent. later, I saw that almost everyone at the restaurant ate this dish. we also had a very good callbsal Wiener schnitzel and two glasses recommended Austrian red wine. very friendly and fast service eating came very fast. we are around 6 and it was not too full. very close to the concert hall where we went for a show. they also take reservations.
