I have been coming to this restaurant for a few years now and it never disappoints. I always order cheesy chips with "extra salt and vinegar" and they always get it right. I have convinced many others to make the trip to Tavistock just to experience this amazing place. The man with the dark hair and beard is always exceptional! View all feedback.
What Galleywench100 dislikes about Tj's Fish Chips:
£7.20 for one yes one cheesy chips and gravy!! I could not believe it! Food was fine but the prices are way overpriced. Mickeys Plaice equally as tasty and fairly priced. View all feedback.
I sat inside and ordered at this restaurant and received very pleasant service. I ordered a medium fish and chips meal. The chips looked and tasted fine, but unfortunately the fish was not up to par. It was difficult to describe, as it was completely flat and not battered, more like a thin layer of breadcrumbs without much actual fish. The total bill came to £16.00, which included mushy peas, a slice of bread, and a pot of tea. I often visit a fantastic Portuguese restaurant where I can get a whole sea bass, roasted baby potatoes, and salad for only £16.50. Despite being hungry, I reluctantly ate the meal, paid the bill, and have no intention of returning to this restaurant.
We ordered the lunchtime special at this restaurant. The fish was undercooked and moist, the chips were leftover scraps, the bread was stale, and there was too much margarine on it. The peas were the only good part of the meal, but the portion size was very small. Additionally, the smell in the toilet was unpleasant.
