Didn’t see the main restaurant side, but the bar... read more The Castle Inn is situated right next to Lydford Castle. We called into the bar side whilst visiting the area. Didn’t see the main restaurant side, but the bar area was fabulous. Full of history oozing with country pub charm. With a big roaring fire friendly staff we were quickly made to feel welcome by the friendly staff. Dog friendly with a huge jar of dog treats on the bar. We were only there for drinks, but it was a very enjoyable experience from what I could see the food being served to a group of local men looked delicious.

Fi... read more Two out of four had plaice which were microscopic portions. As a man, I was left ravenous as it contained 4 mouthfuls of food and I have had bigger starters. Fish and chips were OK as was steak pie. Bill for one course Inc one drink each was £83 at lunchtime. Very poor value for money.

They have a nice garden out the back which we came to on a different day during our holiday and it was really nice to sit and relax with a drink and some pork scractchings after tackling the walk of the Gorge.
