We arrived at 6pm and found the restaurant to be full, but we only had to wait about 20 minutes for our food, which was delicious. The kids meals were generous and the chicken Parmi was huge, taking up half the plate. My salmon was fresh, perfectly cooked, and incredibly tasty. While the price was a bit high at $38, the food was worth it. This restaurant offers exactly what you would expect from a similar establishment in Tasmania - fresh, generous portions at a reasonable price. The location is great, the service was good, and I would happily recommend this place to others.

We r... read more If I owned Shearwater Resort, I would not want to have any association with Waves Restaurant. Our experience over New Year's almost ruined our entire trip. We reserved a table on our first night and ordered three kids meals. The portions were very small, almost cold and dry as if they had been precooked and left out for an hour. One of the meals even had an insect leg on one of the chips. Our main meals were also disappointing. The steak ordered medium-well was almost blue and came with only a small portion of pre-cooked chips. My salmon, which I don't mind being slightly undercooked, was actually still frozen on the inside and just seared on the outside. I ended up getting sick that night. The sweet potato mash was the only good thing about the meal, but unfortunately, that also came back up. It's clear that cost cutting has gone too far at this restaurant. The staff were great, but the food quality was lacking. Overall, a bitterly disappointing experience. I would not recommend dining here.

We opted for the $30 special, which included des... read more We arrived at Shearwater on a Monday for a week-long stay and decided to try the restaurant on our first night. We opted for the $30 special, which included dessert. The Thai Beef salad was mediocre and we had to search for the 8 pieces of beef. The Butter chicken was average. We waited for over 25 minutes for dessert, had to ask for it, and it still hadn't been made. Eventually, we requested takeaway and received our Lamington ice cream and salted caramel sundae to bring back to our room. The Lamington was stale and the ice cream sundae was basic. We were not offered a refund. The service and table cleaning was poor, with dishes from 7 tables sitting there for over half an hour. The staff seemed lazy and uninterested, making it difficult for them to even crack a smile. We will not be returning due to the subpar service and food. There is definitely room for improvement.

Overall not good value for the high prices.
