Sextons cafe bakery in Lymm has a reputation for delicious food and friendly service, with highlights being the bakery side's smiles and good service. While some customers have indicated that the cafe area staff may lack hospitality, overall, the establishment serves up quality meals that are generous in portion size. From cherry pie to dark chocolate torte, the dishes are worth the indulgence. Each visit promises pleasant interactions with the staff and a welcoming environment. While the breakfast offerings may not cater to every taste preference, the cooked breakfast options shine alongside freshly baked breads. Don't forget to grab some pastries to-go on your way out!.
This was a great restaurant, with seating and tables inside and casual bench seating outside. There was a great range of home cooked food, from meals, soups and sandwiches and various ice creams. We opted for a toasted lunch, and my choice of scrambled eggs with bacon and mushrooms was divine! The mushrooms were perfect some restaurants serve them soft and watery, looking like they have been cooked earlier and kept warm these at Sextons were excellent, fresh and full of flavour. Best of all we got the warmest welcome and the staff were very attentive and helpful. A call out to Sarah, who was an excellent host and a lovely, welcoming person. Thank you for a super visit. I don’t often write reviews but having been to Sexton’s twice this weekend, I couldn’t wait to brag about it on here! So I’m a self-confessed coffee snob. The kind that refers to instant as “brown water” and has to instruct the baristas as to just how to make my perfect Long Black . It’s annoying and vaguely pretentious I know, but I am just THAT fussy! Whilst enjoying a weekend canal cruising (what, middle aged-middle class, me?! we stopped off in Lymm for succour and sustenance and stumbled upon Sexton’s, quite by chance. Dubious as I was to start, the impressive queue at the deli was enough to reassure me that it must be at least alright. The current Mrs S greeted us with friendly efficiency and we took our seats by the window. When we ordered a variety of bacon sandwiches and coffees from her, I proceeded to say that I wanted a double shot and described my perfect cuppa. Mrs S gently recommended that I trust her with her caffeine creation. “I’m so fussy!” I protested, but she reassured me and said that I could have another on her if I didn’t like it. Well reader, I needn’t have worried, Mrs S is a true caffeine connaisseur! I had a perfect, and I mean PERFECT, Long Black to accompany my toasted bacon, tomato and avocado sandwich. Mrs S then treated me to one of her famous affogatos, just for me to try! We were so impressed by Sexton’s coffee and hospitality that we determined to return the next day for ice cream. I was excited to walk in and feel the buzz and busyness on a Sunday. I could see the staff were busy so was waiting patiently with my friends until we were seen to. This only took a few minutes until Ms S junior (generation 7, I’m told! ushered us to a table and took our drink order. But before I could get mine in, her mum came over to me brandishing a hot cup of my favourite coffee. I didn’t know that she’d even seen me come in! Now, I am IN LOVE ! That level of customer service is rare, so special these days. Thank you Sexton’s for making our holiday even more special. I can’t wait to come back one day
We go to Lymm, by boat, usually once a year and stay for a few days. I can honestly say that Sexton's is the best bakery I have been to EVER. The staff are friendly and tge bread and cakes top notch. I especially enjoyed 3 lovely salad bowls during my stay in Lymm, whilst hubby loved the pies. The ice cream is superb, locally made and we loved tge pairing of pink lemonade sorbet with liquoriche and blackcurrant. On a very hot day we also loved the lemon, cucumber and mint cooler. If you're ever in Lymm do visit Sexton's....we might even come back by car, it's an hour away from home by road! Well done to all at Sexton's.
I have ordered baked potatoes from this restaurant a few times now, and each time they have been undercooked, hard, and lacking in fillings. The food was also lukewarm. This is disappointing considering the prices they charge for these potatoes. This place used to be a great family-run business with high-quality food and good value for money. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case.
