Was John Alhelm at 3 Gringos Mexican a mag?
Myself and my wife went to 3 gringos for dinner. Food was amazing as was the service. We had the enchilada burrito combination I had the chicken and prawns and my wife had the beef and chicken both of us were pleased with the quality and freshness. We had both the young female and male serve us and they were both very professional and pleasant. I had the cheese cake and it's by far the best cheese cake I've ever had... View all feedback.
What Eva Abbott dislikes about 3 Gringos Mexican:
I ordered a Bean Burrito for $23, and it turned out to be just beans—no peppers, onions, or any of the usual Mexican ingredients. The flavor was decent, but it really missed the mark overall. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. I've attached photos of what I would call "Bean Puree" filling. View all feedback.
Delicious Mexican cuisineHowever, it would be great if they had liquor licenseMeals are also on the expensive side for what you get.
We decided to start with the nachos and ordered a share platter for our main course, only to be dismayed to discover that the restaurant was BYO only. On the positive side, the service was prompt, and our food arrived quickly. Unfortunately, the nachos were quite lackluster, featuring just melted cheddar cheese over canned tomatoes and chips, accompanied by a small dollop of sour cream, bean dip, and guacamole. This disappointment paled in comparison to what awaited us with the main course. The share platter looked enticing, still sizzling on hot plates, but the first bite was a significant letdown. For a restaurant that features a chili in its logo, there was an alarming lack of flavor. The beef was unseasoned and reminiscent of the mystery meat from high school camps; the mixed seafood was tolerable, but even the salt from my shoes would have added more flavor. The vegetables were bland and overly soft, and while I hoped the bread would be the saving grace, even generic taco shells from the supermarket had more substance. What could have been labeled as fajitas ended up being a disappointingly dull variation of Mexican-inspired dishes. At that moment, we resolved never to disparage Guzman Y Gomez again. In the end, we managed to finish only half of our meal, smiled as we paid, and then rushed home, clutching our stomachs (and our wallets) in pain. A fair warning to anyone considering this place: if you are seeking a dining experience that resembles a cardboard version of culturally appropriated Mexican food, this might be the place for you. Otherwise, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Sincerely, a disgruntled couple taking turns in the restroom.
This is probably one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever visited. It's not fancy, but the food is absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. The burrito was fantastic, packed with great flavors, and the salsa had the perfect amount of kick. The corn chip dip was also tasty, and I have to give a special mention to the refried beans dip — it was simply amazing!
