My wife and I made a spontaneous decision to dine at Montauk and we are thrilled that we did! The herb crusted halibut and simply grilled salmon were incredibly tasty. We treated ourselves to the sand pie as well and it's no wonder it's so popular. Marianna, our server, was fantastic in offering recommendations and details about the menu. We would definitely come back and order the same meal again, 10/10!
Highly recommend this restaurant. Our group of 5 enjoyed all of the meals.
The food is consistently delicious, and dining outside is a pleasant experience. The crispy oysters were exceptional. One suggestion is to bring the bread service out with our soup, not after. There was a small issue with the bill, as our credit card was charged for someone else's bill that was double the amount of ours. We are currently waiting for this error to be rectified.
Good food but VERY pricey. We were a party of 6 with 2 children and the bill was over $500 with only 3 drinks and 1 dessert. And they added a 3% “kitchen fee” and a 22% tip because we were a “large” party? I’ve never seen 6 considered a large party before. My husband ordered the scallops with grits and I’ll for $57 and received 3 scallops. Seems like it’s overkill on the pricing for a regular seafood restaurant.
Having been to Vail numerous times with my family I can say that most restaurants in Vail are unimpressive (and many mediocre). Montauk is an exception. Their food is delicious and the service is very friendly and attentive. I had the scallops (fantastic) and my wife had the halibut and she enjoyed it too. My old fashioned cocktail was also great. We will now visit Montauk every time we visit vail.
