My party of six enjoyed a delicious Sunday roast at this restaurant. We had a choice of lamb, pork, beef, or chicken, with three of us opting for two meats. We were delighted to find a spare jug of gravy, generous servings of vegetables, and ample Yorkshire puddings and roasties. The desserts were also fantastic, with options including bread and butter pudding, mango and passionfruit cheesecake, and gooey chocolate p... View all feedback.
My family visited this wonderful pub for Sunday lunch. The roast was amazing. Our order was taken and then the food arrived very quickly. The quantity and quality of food was superb. Plenty of veg and other trimmings. They do a very nice real ale Jail Ale. All plates were cleared and then we moved onto the desserts. They were wonderful! Sticky toffee pudding and bread and butter pudding, all with custard. The pub was is small and cosy and the staff so friendly. It is a must to visit.
Party of four adults, we had the roasts beef, pork and chicken. Lovely old pub, plenty of parking on road outside. Best to book ahead, and check opening times, as not open every day. Very friendly and helpful staff, food was freshly cooked and tasty, with ample portions. Would certainly return if we were local think our friends will. Great place for a leisurely lunch, and dog friendly too.
Totally blown away with the quality of food. I ordered the crab cakes and they were amazing. Really tasted of crab. Normally fish cakes are full of potato and little fish but I’m sure these were filled with just crab. Full of flavour! My husband had the steak, which again was cooked to perfection. What was more impressive was that the landlord was on his own, cooking AND serving! If he was stressed he didn’t show it. He apologised for the delay. Not sure what delay as we we were in and out in around an hour! Totally recommend this hidden little gem
We went to this pub on a Saturday night and were pleasantly surprised. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and the food was outstanding. We highly recommend this place to anyone. The owners were very helpful and welcoming, especially since we are not from the area. The prices were reasonable and the staff went out of their way to assist us. They even welcomed our dog with open arms.
I am thrilled to have found this charming pub. The historic interior is quirky and delightful. Tim and Lorraine were incredibly hospitable. Tim, in particular, was a fantastic host - generous, friendly, and warm. We visited for drinks one evening and returned for dinner another night. Tim was multitasking, managing the bar and cooking, showcasing his hard work and dedication. Our meal was fantastic and portions were generous, offering great value. Meeting Lorraine, Tim, and some of their regular customers was a lovely experience. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be returning in February.
