Subway - Tomah
Subway
Description
Amid friendly staff and fresh, hearty sandwiches, this casual spot shines for allergy-safe prep, catering and easy, free parking. Diners praise thick subs and creative cheese pairings, but persistent issues — slow pickup, app/curbside confusion, occasional wrong or under-portioned orders and pricing annoyances — dent the experience. Best for quick lunch, groups and solo diners who value fresh ingredients; expect helpful service most times but be wary of online-order reliability.

I placed an online order and checked in using my app when I arrived. After waiting 15-20 minutes without receiving my food, I decided to drive to the pickup window. An employee greeted me, and I explained that I had ordered online, checked in as instructed, and still hadn’t received my food. She informed me that I needed to come inside to pick it up, but that contradicts what my email and app indicated. She said she would retrieve my order, and when she brought it out, I pointed out how my email clearly stated that a sub maker would bring the food directly to my vehicle, as I had provided my car's model and color in the app for that purpose. Her response was just a blank stare. I wouldn’t recommend this Subway location. I opted for the app to avoid dealing with people and to ensure my order was correct since it’s all written out for them.
--- The sub was delicious! **Parking:** Easy to find, with plenty of free parking available. **Service:** We dined in for lunch and found the service to be somewhat lacking. **Price per person:** Around $10–20. **Food rating:** 4/5 **Service rating:** 2/5 **Atmosphere rating:** 4/5 **Recommended dish:** Grilled Chicken. Overall, I enjoyed the meal, but the service could use some improvement. --- Let me know if you need any adjustments!
I don't expect top-tier employees at Subway, as they often seem to hire from the bottom of the barrel and convince them they can satisfy customers. Some do a great job, while others fall short. Thankfully, the sandwiches were good on this visit, except for the manager’s attitude. Our group wanted to use coupons that clearly stated "one per person," not "one per group." The manager rudely and unprofessionally interrupted our transaction, trying to deny us the use of valid coupons simply because we arrived and ordered together. Some members of our group didn’t speak English and needed translation, but the manager continued to argue loudly with us in front of a crowded lobby until she finally had to allow us to complete our purchase. I have reported this incident to the corporate offices, but they have not taken any action. As a result, my family and friends will not be returning to Subway anytime soon, possibly never again. We have been loyal customers for decades, visiting weekly. The food is good and well-prepared on good days, but the ambiance suffers due to poor management. The worst decision they ever made was removing the second line—what a monumental mistake! Now, when customers come in, they often find themselves waiting in line that extends outside the building, prompting many to choose other places instead. Service is generally acceptable until the manager goes on a power trip, and it seems neither the franchisee nor corporate cares at all.
