However, I was disappointed with the food this time. The Queenies queen scallops were served with unnecessary additions that didn't enhance the dish. The hake I had was just okay, nothing special. I don't think I will be in a hurry to go back.

The drive to it from Ormsary along the coast is breathtaking and one of Arg... read more We went to the Kilberry Inn in August 2019 in order to celebrate a special birthday. The drive to it from Ormsary along the coast is breathtaking and one of Argyll's best kept secrets. The restaurant was cosy and welcoming. The staff warm and friendly and the food excellent. This is a blend of Scots, French and modern cooking. It's unpretentious (a thoroughly good thing in my opinion) and quite delicious. The restaurant itself is again an unpretentious but nicely refurbished croft-type building and you feel you're in good hands as soon as you walk in. My only criticism, and it's a minor one, is that large rectangular tables are less convivial than round ones and the evening inevitably resulted in each end of the table talking together rather than all together, simply out of practicality rather than design. That said, when I'm back in Argyll this will be a definite stopping off point!
