What Olivia Celik dislikes about The Rook:
Tried the Rook for the first time.My wife and I had a early dinner and drinks on a Thursday night. We had a mussel dish and the Challenge Burger. The mussel dish was very nice had a tasty sauce. Was disappointed with the Challenge burger. The beef patty was over cooked, tough and grizzly in texture. The fries where undercooked. We finished the meals with the only two available desserts. The homemade waffles with berr... View all feedback.
Hidden - this room is worth finding. The room is weakly lit and you have an open air view of Centrepoint Tower. The menu is primarily burger and rolls with some other shares. For something else I went to a bag in the crab - spaghetti, crabs and tomatoes. While the food is offered, this is the perfect place for an after-cocktail or wine.
Walking into the drab office building located at 56 York Street, don’t expect to find any clues that you’re in the right place. We just followed a group of nicely dressed people into the lift hoping they weren’t Bradley Murdochs in disguise. After asking the lift to take us to level ‘R’, which was as good a guess as any, we shot into the sky and walked out (alive) onto a rooftop space that is all wood cladding and wall art. Part bar, part eatery, The Rook serves cocktails of the fancy kind, along with diner food (burgers, fries and lobster rolls). They also proclaim to be gin wizards. I don’t drink gin, so can’t verify this claim. eatplaylovetravel.com.au
Not sure what happened to the Rooks menu. Complete downgrade to be a simple but perfect burger and lobster joint. The burgers were brilliant flavors and sizes with large fat chips on the side. The chefs / owners have changed uniquely as the new was painted and dry the burgers. We had the little Miss Mac; Patty was overcooked and dry. The burger from the Grillburger was a gloomy chicken piece, missing Avo and on a shitty bun. The Billy Ray was just a little better, although the drawn meat was not marinated well, and there was not enough Slav. Grief Grief The chips were terrible; Covered in so much calcined spice coating, cold and outdated. The only positive was the waitress, which understood the food as they coated the plates, which coated in bad spice and coated them from the bill. Grief I will be for drinks again, but not for the food!
We had a wonderful meal at the Rooks! The new cherry blossom festival inspired menu is exciting and delicious. The restaurant is also decorated accordingly creating a very pleasant atmosphere. I had a shitake infused gin drink...if you are feeling adventurous and like mushrooms go for it!
