I had been wanting to dine at Mercado since it opened & a year later finally made it. I had extremely high expectations building up over an entire year. The restaurant has a mysterious mood & lively yet romantic ambience. The staff were all friendly & attentive. After perusing through a delicious sounding menu & interesting wine list, we started with the smoked wagyu tongue. This dish may deter some people with its name but it is absolutely delicious. Rich, thinly slices of wagyu tongue overlapping on the plate topped with a zingy salsa verde & horseradish which really contrasts & brightens up an otherwise rich dish. It was the perfect starter with a glass of smooth, fruity grenache. The burrata with Moroccan eggplant sounded interesting. The eggplant component had bold flavours & spices yet the burrata was creamy & subtle. Both are delicious but for me I felt that the eggplant flavours overpowered the gentle burrata cheese. However the Turkish ravioli was an absolute knockout dish. The pastry chewy yet silky, encasing buttery, sweet, smooth pumpkin filling with a delicious nutty buttery sauce with a hint of citrus drizzled all over. So rich, so addictive, so so good. A must order. From the larger plates, we ordered the wagyu short rib which had a good crust, tender, rich pink meat & delicious salsa made from bone marrow. An extremely rich dish but no less delicious. The broccoli salad with toasted farro was much more the a side in terms of size & taste. It is a lovely dish all on its own. Desserts all sounded amazing & being greedy I ordered 2. The dulce de leche ice cream with butterscotch sauce poured on at the table & cadied bacon. This was so creamy, so rich, so sweet, so amazing. Love the salty contrast provided by the bacon. The donuts on the other hand was not as successful in my opinion. The coffee granita didn't really need to be there. The custard was more an anglaise, quite runny & not sweet enough or had enough vanilla flavour. The donuts had a beautiful crunchy exterior & came warm & fluffy but the inside was a bit more doughy then expected. It was pleasant enough to eat. I had dessert envy looking at the next table as the other 2 desserts not ordered looked better! Overall a really enjoyable dining experience with great & good food, friendly service & good wines.

Really enjoyed the dining experience at Mercado. Service was excellent. We had the set menu. All dishes were delicious and beautifully presented. The children ordered a purple dishes to share which they didn't mind which was nice. Very big nice wine selection. Mocktails were delicious also. Desserts were all very special and enjoyable. Would love to go back next time to try other dishes.
The food at this restaurant is exceptional and absolutely delicious. The wait staff is friendly and gave us great recommendations. We don't eat at fancy restaurants often, so we relied on their suggestions and they were right on the money. Even though we left full, it wasn't an unpleasant, overly stuffed feeling like at other places. I think it may have been due to the freshness of the ingredients. We also tried two of their Spanish beers, which were complex and flavorful, perfect for beer enthusiasts. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want your taste buds to be delighted!
