Description

A reliable neighborhood café in Leichhardt that pairs friendly, speedy counter service with solid brunch plates and an appealing selection of sweet treats. Coffee has improved and is often praised as the best locally—drinkable and varied (including Belgian hot-chocolate options)—though not always destination-worthy. Highlights include coconut bread, raisin toast, muffins, gnocchi and burgers. Practicalities like keep-cup acceptance, sensible COVID measures and reasonable prices add convenience. The main drawback is cramped, uncomfortable seating during busy periods.

**May 2019:** This café has undergone so many positive changes over the past two years. It seems there may have been a change in ownership, but whatever the reason, it's definitely improved! The staff is friendly, the menu is excellent, and the food and coffee are fantastic! Portions are generous, and the display of sweet treats is impressive as well. **March 2017:** Cafés located in small shopping centers can sometimes be hit or miss, but on a rainy day, this café turned out to be a convenient and surprisingly good find. The breakfast and brunch dishes are well-prepared and come in good portions. The poached eggs had nice, soft yolks, and the smashed avocado provided a delightful salty contrast thanks to the halloumi cheese. The raisin toast, while typical, was served with two pats of butter, which was a nice touch. The muffins are baked fresh every day; the white chocolate muffin was sweet with a crunchy top and had a texture more akin to cake than a traditional muffin, making it a great treat for anyone with a sweet tooth. The hot chocolates claimed to be Belgian, and you can choose between white, milk, or dark chocolate, which was a refreshing upgrade from standard powder or syrup options. However, it could have been a bit more generous with the chocolate—while it tasted nice, it resembled a Moove chocolate milk more than a thick Belgian hot chocolate. You order and pay at the counter, and your food and drinks arrive fairly quickly. However, I found the pricing a bit confusing. At the counter, I was informed that upgrading to a large hot chocolate was $1 more, but the menu stated it was only $0.60 more. When I inquired about the discrepancy, the response was simply that a large hot chocolate costs $1 more, without explaining the difference from the menu pricing.

Two years since my last visit and the rating stays at 4* (consistent! . Coffee has improved slightly, service was great, and this morning's breakfast gnocchi was also great. Last time I wrote: Excellent service, good food, coffee just so so. Have been past many times in the past but people manning coffee machine never look overly confident. Tried it today (Sunday and greeted with a smile, order processed easily (counter service only , and good vibe to the place. Coffee and food arrived relatively promptly; once again pleasant service. Coffee drinkable but not good enough to encourage me to rush back. Food quite good. Octopus, a few chips, bit of salad $16 reasonable. Add raisin toast (2 slices and regular coffee $25. I will probably return but not good enough to make a special effort.

Best coffee in Leichhardt. Rated as four stars instead of five due to the seating in the cafe being uncomfortable and not that practical. The cafe could fit in more tables with more appropriate tables and chairs. It’s often difficult to get a seat during busy periods. Sadly I’ve bypassed the cafe more than I’d liked due to not being able to get a table.

This restaurant has a great atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious coffee. The food was ok, I wouldn't come back here to eat but definitely cone back for coffee and the coconut bread as that was buttery perfection.

Really good coffee, a decent menu and friendly service. I drink a mocha myself and these geniuses use chocolate milk instead of syrup or powder and its just darn delicious. The burger, breakfasts wraps all do exactly what they say on the tin. COVID-safe but sensible, keep cups accepted. Don't give them s**t for doing the right thing and checking your vax certificate even if you're a regular.
