After missing the entrance twice, we finally... read more We were invited to dinner in the CBD in Sydney at King 143, a restaurant that we had not been aware of previously. After missing the entrance twice, we finally found it and went up the stairs to find a smart venue which would fit around 50 odd patrons. The décor is modest however functional and the atmosphere is good. We were greeted by the head waiter and shown to our seats which were very comfortable and with enough room not to be too tight.The food menu and wine list truly exceeded our expectations in that the prices were modest for both food and drink, a very pleasant surprise for the CBD area.Whilst neither list were extensive it was full of character, imagination and quality and after ordering and the food arrived, it was nothing short of excellent. The wine too was a great example of a red at a very competitive price where you would probably pay twenty dollars more at other establishments.The service was quick, efficient and friendly and was almost seamless which is what you want when dining out in a group.I would recommend King143 and am looking forward to my next visit there.

It is a quiet and unassuming little restaurant that is perfect for a romantic meal.The food was delicious and the service attentive but unobtrusive. The wine list was not bad with a fair selection.Very few restaurants seem to be capable of providing a romantic setting these days. They are often noisy and the waiters are rushed off their feet. This one though delivers and I would have no hesitation in returning.
