Was Wanderlust Wolf at Helm Bar a mag?
Pro: Barramundi Fish was excellent. View is amazing. Great vibe. Casual vibe. br/ br/ Con: The chicken schnitzel was horrible, gravy made everything soggy, chicken piece was too thin and chewy. View all feedback.
What Chik n' Cheeks dislikes about Helm Bar:
Booked for the Helm Bar. Arrived and told to head upstairs. Then told that we were actually down stairs at the Yacht Club, even though confirmation stated we were seated upstairs. Apparently the place was booked out, but there were multiple tables free inside. Taken to our table and left alone, no communication on where to get menus/drinks from etc. Food was quick, but was cold and oily when we got it. Had 2 drinks,... View all feedback.
We came to helm bar for some farewell drinks, though I wasn't too sure of what to expect here considering the number of mixed reviews I had received before. We ordered drinks and food here, and though I thought the service was a bit slow to start with, they were patient (considering we had such a big order!) and friendly too. The pizza here isn't too big, and is quite tasty. I love that they weren't stingy with the toppings! We enjoyed their sweet potato fries, though I didn't like the thing fries they served (they were far too oily for my liking). The calamari was crunchy and tender, and well cooked, so no complaints there. The staff was friendly throughout the night, and returned to clear anything we were done with at regular intervals so we didn't end up piling things up. Helm is a nice place for Friday drinks and bar food, or maybe even a footy screening with your mates :) theminiaturekitchen.net
One of my favourite places to come for an after work drink in Darling Harbour. The food is consistently good quality and so is the service. A great spot for a work lunch with a view or a weekend get together with friends.
Good place and atmosphere. Food is reasonable. Would have expected the food to cost an arm and a leg given its proximity to tourist attractions - however it was one of the cheapest bars/pubs to go to, compared to other places around Darling Harbour.
I booked this place, online, from the UK. It would be my 69th birthday ! They didn’t seem to be expecting us. I had to forage for menus then go to order, and pay, at the bar. We had beer and pizza nothing wrong with that on any other day of the year. The Helm is no bistro. It’s a sports bar with multiple TV screens (we had womens’ basketball). A DJ worked in the background. An (electronic) gaming machine was fixed to one wall. If this is what you want, go to the Helm Bar and Bistro but don’t bother to book. If you want a somewhat special meal go somewhere else ….. go anywhere else !
