Shabuga is one of my top picks for shabu shabu restaurants in the Duluth/Suwanee area (right behind 9292 Shabu, although their prices are a bit high). I hadn't visited since before COVID, so I decided to give them another try. This place is quite understated (they've been open for about 3-4 years with only 22 Yelp reviews), but the food is really good, and I prefer it over Gom any day. We went on a Thursday evening, and I ordered the premium beef shabu with a side of kalgooksu. The great thing about shabu is that since it's not really cooked, the food comes out pretty quickly. Our food arrived promptly, and I noticed that their meat portions have gotten larger, which was a nice surprise. They used to offer refillable veggies, but I'm not sure if they still do. You can make your own sauce or ask them to make it for you. I always request the medium sauce and mix it with ketchup - it may sound odd, but it tastes great with a sweet kick. I also always get a side of their peanut sauce, which is fantastic. It seems homemade and has a rich nutty flavor. I highly recommend it. Overall, you can't really go wrong with shabu. Some people may say the portions are small, but if you order a side of carbs at the end, it's worth it. My meal cost $18.99 plus around $2.99 for the noodles, which is reasonable considering today's prices. It had been a while since my last visit, but this trip reminded me that I need to come here more often.

This shabu shabu restaurant is fantastic. The prices are unbelievably affordable, even for dinner. We have been to many similar places, but this one really impressed us. The whole family enjoyed our dinner tonight and we will definitely be returning soon. The restaurant is also very clean and organized.

I love this place! Food is fresh and delicious. Fast and friendly customer service. I would recommend getting the mild sauce if you had a mid-spice tolerance. Overall great experience both times going.

Honestly, I was disappointed with both the food and the service. We came during lunch on Monday and got the regular beef lunch special very affordable I think it was 13 dollars). First of all, the portion size is a bit odd. Maybe it's because I came for lunch but my plate came with one piece of tofu, a piece of broccoli, a quarter of a mushroom, etc. as seen in the picture. I know there's inflation right now but I wish they could add more.. My biggest complaint was the quality of the beef. It was probably the worst meat I have tasted because it tasted like wet paper. There's a premium beef option that's just a dollar more so maybe i should've just gotten that but nonetheless it was terrible. The service was also very slow. We went on a weekday but it took forever for the plates to come and seemed like the two waiters were veryyy busy. The sauce bar was also empty but the waiters didn't fill it back up. They also never gave us water so we had to ask for it. I think the restaurant would benefit from having better quality meat and hiring more workers.
