Description
Dining experiences at local restaurants can be hit or miss, and recent visits to IHOP in Sumter highlight this variability. Many guests reported frustrating delays, a lack of staff, and poor food quality, leading to disappointing outings. However, recent management changes have sparked a turnaround, as some patrons praised improved service and food quality, noting the attentiveness of new staff members. Yet, inconsistencies remain, with others encountering cleanliness issues and confusion over open hours. Overall, while some now find IHOP a better choice, caution is advised based on mixed reviews of service and food reliability.

This restaurant appears to be abandoned. I walked around for 15 minutes trying to get someone's attention, but there was no sign of anyone. The cash register was left open and the fire alarm door was wedged open. The work ethic of the people in Sumter is one of the worst I have ever seen. The restaurant is dirty, so who knows if the food is any good since there is no one to ask for assistance. It seems like the employees are probably out back smoking or goofing off on TikTok. I would not recommend coming here at all. They should consider firing the employees and starting fresh.
The food was served lukewarm, making it difficult to enjoy. The waitress took my gift card and did not return with a receipt, claiming there was nothing left on it. Our breakfast for two came to $25, which seemed excessive for the quality of the food.
Out of a lot of productsEmployees advising management is terriblePaying employees 2.13 hour and they can’t make money when the managers aren’t ordering products or hiring reliable ppl. Very disappointing situation! Hire new managers and train ppl.
We sat at a table for over 20 minutes and no one took our order, not even for drinks. We left and went to eggs up grill, best decision.
A work was upset, and the language she was using was awful in a place of business where customers could hear it. Whatever they have to say about a patron should be said in private. But to be honest they should keep it to themselves, because without the customers they wouldn't have a job.
