This is part of a small chain of cafes in Cantabria. There 's a seperate good bakery counter and a cafe done out in a rather odd 'shabby chic ' style. After about 10am it gets incredibly busy wth long queues. There are some reasonable breakfast deals that include coffee, juice, toast (bit underwhelming), tortillas, pastries etc. There 's always a rather dapper gent in a pink trilby sitting outside. What User doesn't like about La Gallofa:
I went for breakfast with my family and the orange juice served it in a plastic glass and also small. I don't understand about the plastic, because if it were about smelling and throwing away then the milked coffee would put it in plastic too and it wasn't. the tomato for toast was made water, so the toast was soaked. Sometimes breakfasts have been better. These things make me think about it next time to get back. View all feedback.
It is a very good place to have coffee, beverages or quick food. The prices is very good and service good as well.
Our 1st visit over 2 years ago we really enjoyed this place , lovely food, great choices and returned regularly during our stay . We looked forward to going back . What a difference the friendly atmosphere had disappeared. The healthy sandwiches not available we chose tortilla potato omelette)as this was the only item we recognised , served with a dry bread roll , which had been warmed to freshen up, the tortilla not warmed . I asked for ketchup to make more palatable and told No ! finished off with a stale cake so disappointed . Think this place would be better visiting in the morning, when possibly the food will be at its best .
Went a couple of times for light lunch. Great choice of sandwiches which were delicious as were the confectionery, all at reasonable prices. The staff spoke little English but were very helpful and understanding when we tried to order in our poor Spanish.
The staff is very attentive, the problem is the endless queues to be expected to be taken care of by lack of staff.
