Feedback
I visited the opening of the restaurant after changing the General Manager. After getting to know this guy from his childhood, it's a great thing to see how young people can be brave and take an old, well-known and appreciated Swabian restaurant... and keep it as it was intact that he was quality of food, but refresh it with the specific domestic atmosphere. Definitely a place to visit in Stuttgart, try the traditional maul bags, late zle and kartoffel salad. When it comes to regional products, the wine list is also beautiful and everyone can find something tasteful.
I have wanted to go there for years; it seems this spot is still a secret to many so I was happy when we were able to check this out last Sunday evening (I reserved a table by telephone . We went there by foot but...you can also take the train to the U Bahn stop Österreichischer Platz and then it will be another 10 minutes by foot (uphill! . I didn 't expect that it was such a small place, however, when we arrived. You walk through the door and you are in the main room with with the hostess behind the counter and the wardrobe on the right side and her helper, a waitress, is also in the room, both of them are self confident lovely women who create a cozy atmosphere in two rooms, one double the size of the other, with long tables encouraging communal eating. But if it is not packed yet they place guests far away from each other first. Also I loved the decoration, old photos of common locals pinned to the walls in nice frames. The menu is fairly small and only contains tradition Swabian fare and also three Vegetarian dishes one of them I did choose, the Linsen and Spätzle (lentil stew with homemade noodles , it came with a nice side salad (potato and green salad for the price of 8.50 Euros. Our order was taken really quickly and the food was served quickly too and it was delicious. The other guests were really young like in their twenties and early 30s , but there were also some older ones around. I was grateful there was no muzak and the service was onobtrusive and the fellow diners fairly well behaved. I really loved it there and will go back soon.
