Typical restaurant with local food, wide wine list and good beers. Excellent atmosphere and delicious svevian dishes, absolutely recommended!
We were staying in the neighborhood and decided to try this place since it was close by. As others have said, it is very small, but also very cozy with it's traditional wood walls, pictures, etc. It really is just two rooms in an old...house. We didn't have a reservation, and they just sat us down at a table with two German men--a typical European thing. Since my husband is German, this turned out to be a wonderful experience. One lived only 50 meters from the place and his friend had travelled the world. The food was typical Schwaben, very hearty. In typical fashion too, the green salad meant just that--a bunch of cut up lettuce only. Do not expect much variation from the menu, but if you want an authentic Schwaben experience, this is it.
This place is occupied by a terrible group of people who should not work in the hospitality industry. The blessing was incredibly rude for me and my friends. Don't eat here!
I visited the opening of the restaurant after changing the General Manager. After getting to know this guy from his childhood, it's a great thing to see how young people can be brave and take an old, well-known and appreciated Swabian restaurant... and keep it as it was intact that he was quality of food, but refresh it with the specific domestic atmosphere. Definitely a place to visit in Stuttgart, try the traditional maul bags, late zle and kartoffel salad. When it comes to regional products, the wine list is also beautiful and everyone can find something tasteful.
I have wanted to go there for years; it seems this spot is still a secret to many so I was happy when we were able to check this out last Sunday evening (I reserved a table by telephone . We went there by foot but...you can also take the train to the U Bahn stop Österreichischer Platz and then it will be another 10 minutes by foot (uphill! . I didn 't expect that it was such a small place, however, when we arrived. You walk through the door and you are in the main room with with the hostess behind the counter and the wardrobe on the right side and her helper, a waitress, is also in the room, both of them are self confident lovely women who create a cozy atmosphere in two rooms, one double the size of the other, with long tables encouraging communal eating. But if it is not packed yet they place guests far away from each other first. Also I loved the decoration, old photos of common locals pinned to the walls in nice frames. The menu is fairly small and only contains tradition Swabian fare and also three Vegetarian dishes one of them I did choose, the Linsen and Spätzle (lentil stew with homemade noodles , it came with a nice side salad (potato and green salad for the price of 8.50 Euros. Our order was taken really quickly and the food was served quickly too and it was delicious. The other guests were really young like in their twenties and early 30s , but there were also some older ones around. I was grateful there was no muzak and the service was onobtrusive and the fellow diners fairly well behaved. I really loved it there and will go back soon.

Schwäbisch the best, cool Schwäbische Location mit Museumskarakter. Please never change. Nierle to bathe in... best 1/2 1/2. Peter
The time seems to have stopped in the Weinstube Kochbas. Such a beautiful, old guest room is rarely found in the concept-gastronomy-smoothed restaurant landscape! It sits very cozy, though tight, in the low guest room. The service is ground friendly and has everything in mind. I ordered a mouthbag in broth as a little appetizer. Very fine part, although as an appetizer a bit powerful. I'm glad my accompaniment helped to eat everything. The main course was sour roast. Very good! Like I like him, really mad and with a decent portion of latezle. The meat was of good quality and beautifully lean. As I said – very good. The Best-Begleitung-Von-Allen took a loinbread that also tasted very well. To drink there is either wine (as real quarters) or beer. Both not the greatest droplets, but well drinkable. All in all, we were very satisfied with spice and potion, operation and ambience in the cooking base. You should book, however, a lot of space is not. Oh yes – and not too late, after us there was no late zle and no salad anymore. However, this can also be due to the fact that our visit was on the last day before the farm holiday.
The cooking base is still the crown of Swabian restaurants. A truly Swabian menu with food like Grandma. And an excellent service: Spätzle or Bratkartoffel zum Rostbraten? I was able to decide hard reaction of the operation then hold both of each half and that at no cost! Without resaervation only in summer (garden industry), otherwise always reserve!
