Bellas Bistro - Stuart
Bellas Bistro
Description
Longtime neighborhood Italian Renato's in Sewalls Point/Stuart serves brick-oven pizzas, seafood and a much‑praised French onion soup across breakfast, lunch and dinner in a charming indoor/outdoor courtyard. Many diners enjoy flavorful entrees, generous presentations and friendly staff, though experiences vary: service can be slow, orders occasionally arrive cold or incomplete, and some seafood plates are sparsely portioned. Prices are reasonable for several dishes, but inconsistent execution has dulled earlier charm — still a pleasant casual spot if you come with tempered expectations.
Feedback
I went to use the restroom while I was there and knocked on the door to check if it was occupied. I even apologized for knocking, but when an employee came out, they said, “That’s how you get hit in the face with the door.” I couldn’t believe what I heard! This is terrible customer service, especially towards people who support your business. I won’t be returning again!
Delicious food! We always enjoy dining here. I must give them credit; when we arrived, they informed us that "the kitchen is backed up," which helped set our expectations—so the service was satisfactory. Everyone was pleased with their main dishes. I had the flounder, while others ordered veal piccata and eggplant parmigiana. We will definitely be coming back.
It took an additional 30 minutes for the first two of our seven entrees to be served, with the remaining five coming out slowly one by one. The last meal finally arrived a frustrating 25 minutes after the others. Four out of the seven entrees were cold. We received no explanation until one of our party refused their entree, at which point the cook came out to mention a gas line issue. However, we noticed that other tables were being served and their meals were coming out promptly. Our server never returned to check on us. On a positive note, we did receive a complimentary dessert, and each couple was given a $30 gift card, including the seventh guest in our party. We were informed that our server was Josephine, the owner.
Disappointing. This Italian restaurant, which has been in business since the late 90s, has certainly lost its charm. I ordered pasta with seafood, but it fell short of the expectations one would have for a long-standing Italian eatery. While I understand that homemade pasta might be a lot to ask, I was disappointed to find only 2 shrimp, 2 clams, 2 mussels, and 2 pieces of calamari in a rather bland sauce made with canned tomatoes and not a hint of garlic, all for $28. My side of a tiny Caesar salad and what seemed to be day-old bread also lacked excitement. It's a unfortunate decline for the neighborhood.
The restaurant offers a lovely selection of Italian dishes and seafood specialties. The portions are generous, and everything is nicely prepared and presented. However, there was a noticeable delay between when we placed our order and when our food was served, even though the restaurant wasn't busy that night and many tables were available.
