Food is pretty good. Authentic Mexican. I always get the carnitas taco dinner on corn shell. I've had it delivered through Door Dash several times and it's always the same, salsa and chips included (homemade). They're my Mexican go to in Springfield! View all feedback.

This is the best Mexican food I have had anywhere between Bloomington and Springfield. It is authentic, high quality, flavorful, and I have tried almost half the menu without there being a single thing I didn't like.Don't miss this place for any reason if you are looking for Mexican food that is top notch.
This review is from the perspective of expatriated Californians. Mexican food is part of California's culture. Since our move to Illinois, we have been in search of Mexican food true to the culture and to what we are accustomed to. Moroleon Tropical is the closest we have found to the authentic Mexican cuisine we were spoiled with in California. The Birria tacos are to die for. The enchiladas in suezas with chorizo are perfect. I love Chili Relleno. This dish is a poblano chili stuffed with cheese, dipped in batter, deep fried, and served with red sauce. Moroleon Tropical is the only restaurant I have found in Illinois that comes close to serving this dish properly. It is offered with cheese sauce (what is it with Illinois? Everything is smothered in chaso blanco!!?? Cheese sauce on everything! But I digress)...thankfully, per request, they will serve it with red sauce. We have enjoyed their Chimichungas, torts, burritos, and more. Also, the margaritas are the bomb! When we are craving Mexican cuisine, Moroleon Tropical has become our go-to restaurant!Kid-friendliness: The atmosphere is very colorful and festive
The waiter was very attentive, and both the flavors and portion sizes were excellent for the price. The hand-painted decor was beautifully done. In terms of accessibility, there is a long ramp and wide doors for wheelchair access.

While the decor and patio is inviting and the staff seemed friendly, the food is basically inedible. I 'm not one to complain and didn 't even contest the bill. I basically knew from the watered down salsa and the inability to know the difference between afrozen drink and one on the rocks like I ordered, that this wasn 't going to be the best food. I really had no idea how bad itcould get. My chicken was unseasoned and like rubber. My kid ordered fish that might as well have been jerky. It was just gross.Neither of us ate our food. There 's a reason this place is always dead.
