Cross Roads Pub - Spencer
Cross Roads Pub
Description
**Dining Experience at The Crossroads: A Mixed Bag**
The Crossroads pub offers a quaint atmosphere adorned with festive decoration, making it a cozy dining spot. Many patrons praise the warm service and beautifully presented dishes, particularly the Chicken and Ham Hock Pie. However, recent visits reveal inconsistency in food quality. Diners have reported overcooked meats, unappetizing sides, and a lack of attentive service, leading to disappointment. Although the pub's ambiance and some meals are delightful, the experience can vary greatly. Reservations are recommended due to its popularity, but the reviews suggest a cautious approach unless recent quality improvements are confirmed.

I was excited to try the venison mixed grill that included steak and a wild boar sausage, accompanied by baby roast potatoes and a rich merlot gravy—it sounded fantastic. However, what I received was downright disappointing. For nearly £19, I expected a substantial meal, but instead, I was served one small, tough piece of steak that seemed overcooked and possibly reheated multiple times. The sausage was an ordinary, greasy variety with no hint of wild boar, and I was given just one baby potato, which appeared to have been hastily microwaved and sliced into tiny pieces. The gravy was decent, but it couldn't make up for the lackluster main dish, so I ended up ordering a side of chips. Honestly, I’m not looking forward to returning. Service: 2/5.

A cute country pub, it was decorated all christmasy with fairy lights. Some chairs needed alterations, but that's a small detail. The Salmon on lunch menu was absolutely delicious! Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 4 Hotel highlights: Romantic
Local here. This is our go to pub. Out of all the pubs in the area, for sure this is the best. Lived in the local area a year now and all other pubs we visited were cold (people) and food was mediocre at best. Crossroads is the friendliest, quality is great, and has a home feel.
