After enjoying a day of walking in the Langdales, we stopped by for a drink at this restaurant. We were so impressed that we came back another day for both drinks and food. The chicken, leek, and ham pie with chips and vegetables was absolutely delicious - the perfect meal after a day of hiking. The restaurant offers a lovely area to sit and take in the stunning scenery, and parking is available as well. Highly recom... View all feedback.
What DeniseP1180 doesn't like about Old Dungeon Ghyll:
We popped into the Hikers Bar after a walk along Mickleden Valley. However it was only just gone noon and lunch was not served until 1pm so we decided to move on elsewhere. The interior was very traditional and the lunch menu somewhat limited ... View all feedback.
This became our go-to haunt while staying in Great Langdale. Good pub grub and a decent selection of beers and ciders on tap. A good mix of indoor and outdoor seating

I absolutely love The Old Dungeon Ghyll, it's my favorite pub in the valley. The staff always make me feel welcome. Our group of Ratti members, totaling 43 people, booked our AGM meal there. The food was excellent - we had pre-ordered a 3-course meal, followed by coffee, mince pies, and tablet fudge. The meal was perfect, as was the service. I highly recommend this restaurant to others. Thank you, guys!
The menu may be a bit limited, but it was perfect for our camping trip. The staff were friendly, prices were reasonable, and we will definitely return. It's recommended to make reservations for larger groups or arrive early, as it's popular with the campsite nearby. Vegan options are limited.
I absolutely adore this pub for its traditional charm and unspoiled beauty in the Lake District. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and they offer a wonderful variety of well-maintained local ales from nearby breweries. Though it can get crowded at times, there is a spacious outdoor area for enjoying the summer weather. Dogs and hikers are warmly welcomed, and the food menu looks fantastic as well!
