Contribute FeedbackOverall, Carus Green is a venue with mixed reviews. Some guests enjoyed the excellent service, wheelchair accessibility, and special events. Others were disappointed by the decline in food quality, inconsistent service, and lackluster meals. The accommodation and facilities were praised, especially for golfers. While the staff and course conditions received positive feedback, there were concerns about timing and availability of services. Despite this, Carus Green remains a popular choice for groups, societies, and those looking for a convenient location with various nearby attractions.
Every year we embark on a golf trip towards the end of Summer. We've been to Scotland and Wales in recent years. However, I think we've found our perfect location. A great course, pristine accommodation, a lovely bar, hearty breakfast and amazing staff. You don't even need to be a golfer to appreciate the hospitality and views at Carus Green. Bob by and have a drink on the balcony or a snack lunch. You'll understand what I mean as soon as you arrive. Many thanks to Lisa and the team a wonderful couple of days.
Carus Green has always been excellent for a couples lunch (service efficient and friendly, good selection food and value for money) and has exceptional access for the disabled in a wheelchair (lift, loo, wide corridors and nicely spaced tables). The staff were remarkable in the care and attention they gave my husband, formerly a golfer at the club, in the last year of his life. The family chose Carus for the wake so this a slightly different review from the norm. Guests arrived 30 minutes early but Carus staff were ready! The food just hit the right spot variety of sandwiches catering for meat eaters and vegetarians, brown and white bread choices with selection of homemade cakes. Tea and coffee were self service the staff were busy with the free bar! The family’s guests enjoyed the afternoon entirely suited to my late husband’s personality. Thank you Carus Green you did him proud. Message is think about Carus for those slightly different celebrations.
The accommodation at this restaurant was excellent, as we stayed for 2 nights with views overlooking the 1st tee. We participated in an open event, with an entry fee of £30 each, and we were pleasantly surprised to win 1st Prize of £40. However, the staff at the restaurant seemed unhappy with visitors winning and were unhelpful, insisting that we could only use our prize vouchers in their shop, which was over 100 miles away. The assistant pro allowed a group of 4 to tee off at 10.58 when the competition was scheduled to start at 11am, resulting in delays on the course. Despite bringing this to the attention of the shop staff, the issue was not resolved and there were multiple groups stacking up on the course. In my opinion, the shop staff were a letdown for the overall venue.
I participated in an Open competition at this restaurant in August 2023. The course was in great shape despite experiencing some heavy rains recently. It provided a fair challenge, especially for those who have trouble staying on the fairway. The clubhouse was outstanding, featuring top-notch changing facilities and a bar offering a wide selection of beers and delicious meals.
This is the ideal location for a golfers' retreat. My friend and I stayed for 2 nights and found the rooms to be clean and beautifully decorated. The food was excellent and the variety of food and drinks was perfect. The golf course was in fantastic condition, with the greens being the best I had seen in a long time. The highlight was the 18th hole, where I couldn't resist going for the green but unfortunately ended up in the pond. Overall, a fantastic destination for any golfing excursion.
