Royal Bengal Restaurant - Somerville

The service and atmosphere at this restaurant were fantastic. The menu had a great variety of options. We shared filet mignon and Royal Red Shrimp along with salads, sautéed garlic mushrooms, and baked potatoes. They also had baskets of different types of bread and two types of butter. At the end of the meal, they provided truffles. It was a wonderful dining experience!

The 24-ounce prime rib was perfectly seasoned and cooked to a flawless medium rare. I will definitely be returning.

Overall, we had a great experience at this Bengali restaurant and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to try something different in Boston. Can't wait to come back and try more of their dishes!

Royal Bengal is a hidden gem with delicious food at affordable prices. Despite its unassuming location, the interior is cozy and inviting. Our group of three foodies thoroughly enjoyed the Bengali specials. It's a great spot to enjoy a fantastic meal with friends, and they even offer take-out for those on the go.

During a recent visit to the restaurant with my parents, I had the opportunity to converse with the cook in Bengali, my native language. She appeared to be a friendly individual. However, after a short while, the manager, possibly the owner's wife, scolded the cook and instructed her to return to the kitchen for speaking directly to the customers. This incident made us feel uncomfortable, but we chose not to react. Eventually, the cook informed us that one of our ordered items was not fresh and recommended changing it, which we appreciated. Upon learning of this, the manager proceeded to berate the cook harshly, causing us further discomfort and annoyance. Despite this, we remained silent throughout. When the bill arrived, it did not reflect the changes we had made to our order, prompting me to request a correction. This resulted in yet another outburst from the manager towards the cook. Additionally, the manager's husband entered the restaurant at some point and joined in the shouting directed at the cook, displaying rude behavior. Feeling concerned for the cook's well-being, I attempted to contact the authorities, but my parents advised against pursuing the matter, deeming it not serious enough to involve the police. However, I feel compelled to share this incident with others by posting it on various review platforms such as Yelp, TripAdvisor, Google, and OpenTable. Thank you.
