we were here for one night. free vegan dinner and breakfest was brilliant and a good opportunity to meet new people. the meal was nothing special, but tasted good and there were two options for dinner. if you have booked a night on the hostel, you will receive a lunch ticket at the breakfest or dinner. the whole hostel is very nice with a large area to hang out. This place is pretty much the go-to hostel in Sofia. It has a lively atmosphere with guests from all over the world. They offer vegan options every night, and I particularly enjoyed the lentil dish!

We spent one night at this hostel. The complimentary vegan dinner and breakfast were excellent and offered a wonderful opportunity to mingle with other guests. While the meals were not exceptional, they were tasty and there were two dinner choices available. Upon booking a night at the hostel, you receive a food ticket from the reception for either breakfast or dinner. The hostel itself is charming, with a spacious lounge area for relaxation and socializing.

I recently stayed at Hostel Mostel for four nights in the last two weeks and was impressed with their diverse range of vegetarian food options. The hostel includes meals for bookings over €9 per night, making it a great value for budget travelers. Dinner options included lentils/beans and rice (vegan), spaghetti with marinara (vegan), and a fish and potato dish (pescatarian), with a complimentary glass of beer and assorted sides. Breakfast offered a variety of options, including bread and jam, fruits, vegetables, muesli, cornflakes, and beverages. While vegan milk was not provided, guests could store their own in the fridge. Aside from the food, I had a fantastic stay at the hostel, met interesting people, and participated in activities such as a pub crawl and a trip to Rila National Park. I highly recommend staying at Hostel Mostel for a memorable experience.

This is more or less the de facto it hostel in Sofia. Great mood with people from all over the world. Vegan options every night. I really enjoyed the lens dish!

I stayed at Hostel Mostel for a total of four nights in the last two weeks and appreciated their all vegetarian food options. The food is included in all bookings more than €9/night, so you will receive two meals per day for a reasonable price and a great hostel service. Dinner per night had three options, two of which are vegan: lentils/beans and rice (vegan), spaghetti with marinara (vegan), and some sort of fish and potatoes (pescatarian). Dinner came with a glass of beer and sides bread, cabbage salad, olives and carrots. Breakfast included meat and cheese, but I could have bread and jam, apples, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, cereals and juice and tea. No vegan milk available, but you can buy your own and leave in the refrigerator. Apart from the food I really enjoyed my stay here, many great people met and used their pub crawl and trip to Rila National Park and I would definitely recommend to stay here!

I nervously approached the counter and asked the staff member if anything was vegetarian and he informed me that in fact, two of the dishes were vegan which was a reaction I certainly wasn't expecting! You also get a glass of beer with the food, but I assumed he wouldn't know about whether this was vegan or not and gave it to a friend . Have to be honest though and say if you're a half decent cook you could probably do a lot better at home, but who wants to cook on holiday. They also close off the kitchen while they're preparing it and aren't keen at all on guests entering the kitchen during this time so it would be difficult to buy and cook your own food while staying here. As for the rest of the hostel, I would definitely recommend. I enjoyed the activities I went on there and the rooms are clean and comfortable enough and it has a relaxed atmosphere. The breakfast which you have to pay extra for their website is a bit contradictory on this issue! was also fairly vegan friendly with lots of fruit but no soy milk/vegan friendly margarine Overall I know there are probably better places worldwide and this hostel does stop a way short of being *perfect* for vegans, but I've never stumbled across such a vegan friendly hostel before. And overall, veganism in Bulgaria isn't particularly easy and in general it is quite a nice hostel, so I thought Happy Cow users would like to know about this place :
