we were here for one night. free vegan dinner and breakfest was brilliant and a good opportunity to meet new people. the meal was nothing special, but tasted good and there were two options for dinner. if you have booked a night on the hostel, you will receive a lunch ticket at the breakfest or dinner. the whole hostel is very nice with a large area to hang out. A nice place to meet other travelers from all around the world, but not really an exceptional place for vegans. Breakfast was bread , coffee, juice , vegetables /fruit and jam had no dinner here However , I would definitely recommend it as a hostel!
This is more or less the de facto es hostel in sofia. great mood with people from all over the world. I really enjoyed the lens court!

I was in hostel mostel for a total of four nights in the last two weeks and appreciated their all vegetarian food options. the food is included in all bookings more than €9/night, so they receive a great hostel service for a reasonable price two meals per day. each night had three options, of which two are vegan: lentils/beans and rice (vegan), spaghetti with marinara (vegan), and some species of fish and kartoffels (pescatarian.) the evening meal came with a glass of beer and sides of brot, cauliflower, olive and carrots. the breakfast included some meat and cheese, but I could have brot and jam, apples, tomatoes, gurkens, olives, müsli and cornflakes and juice and tee. no vegan milk available, but they can buy their own and leave in a refrigerator. Apart from eating that I really enjoyed my stay here, many great people met, and used their pub crawl and travel in rila national park and I would definitely recommend to stay here!
I nervously approached the counter and asked the staff member if anything was vegetarian and he informed me that in fact, two of the dishes were vegan which was a reaction I certainly wasn't expecting! (You also get a glass of beer with the food, but I assumed he wouldn't know about whether this was vegan or not and gave it to a friend). Have to be honest though and say if you're a half-decent cook you could probably do a lot better at home, but who wants to cook on holiday. They also close off the kitchen while they're preparing it and aren't keen at all on guests entering the kitchen during this time so it would be difficult to buy and cook your own food while staying here. As for the rest of the hostel, I would definitely recommend. I enjoyed the activities I went on there and the rooms are clean and comfortable enough and it has a relaxed atmosphere. The breakfast (which you have to pay extra for their website is a bit contradictory on this issue was also fairly vegan friendly with lots of fruit but no soy milk/vegan friendly margarine Overall I know there are probably better places worldwide and this hostel does stop a way short of being *perfect* for vegans, but I've never stumbled across such a vegan friendly hostel before. And overall, veganism in Bulgaria isn't particularly easy and in general it is quite a nice hostel, so I thought Happy Cow users would like to know about this place
