What Taylor doesn't like about Sapori Napoletani Pizzeria Napoletana Wood Burning Oven:
For how long we had to wait, while the place was dead, AND for the pizza to be just nothing more than meh...that's a no from me. Sauce is flavorless and the pizza was WAAAAAY under done in like the worst way. Don't over topping your pie if you can't cook it through. Service was good but never again will i dine again. Chicago is cool and all but the pizza is hit or miss. If you go to Italy, the pizza is all the same! And you eat it with a fork. SAPORI Napoletani has pizza like Italy. Very strong flavor, very friendly waitresses and just kind of stumbled into it. Absolutely would go again and we intend to!
My family is from Serino Italy (just outside of Napoli). This is one of the 2 restaurants around Chicagoland that taste like the old country. The pizzas are wonderful and I don't mind taking the ride (passing 2 other brick oven pizza places on the way). The beer and wine are great and customer service is top notch.
Delicious salads, brick oven pizzas, and desserts! The best place to go for authentic flavors of Napoli! As seen on Check Please, but better!
My experience was that half of the servers were helpful. Got to drink half my beers, every time I had half a bottle left the other half of the servers.. cleared away the bottle..not once but three times! My strong suggestion… either learn to make a calzone… which has a pasta dough top over the filling! Or take off the menu.. trying to put toppings on a dollop of dough is not good. The beer is expensive… especially as you only get to spring half the bottle! Could do with improvement…
We went Saturday for lunch. Surprisingly there was plenty of seating for a Saturday and the hostess/server was very attentive, refilled our water in a timely manner and did not rush us to order or finish. The food was perfect (we had calamari, seafood pasta, pizza, and tiramisu for dessert). The ingredients were high quality which definitely elevated the fresh flavors of every dish. I absolutely loved how fresh the seafood was and the calamari was perfect. The tiramisu was so good, we pre-ordered some for our family member's birthday next week. I could definitely tell how well kept the entire restaurant is. It was a very rare occasion when we finished all the food!! This place is a rare gem and a happy surprise for us.
