Feedback
We are thrilled that the Ruddy Duck has reopened and moved temporarily to the library. The service, food, and atmosphere were all fantastic, making it the perfect setting for a 2.5 to 3-hour dining experience. We are eagerly anticipating the Italian wine tasting and signature menu at the end of April.
We reserved the tasting menu at Ruddy Duck for a birthday celebration. Right from the beginning, we received a lovely, warm welcome. The staff at Wortley Hall and Ruddy Duck are consistently friendly. The presentation of the food was amazing, with perfectly balanced flavors. The portion sizes were just right, allowing us to truly enjoy each dish. The tables in the dining room were well spaced out, creating a comfortable environment for all guests. Despite the distancing, there was still a nice atmosphere. We can't wait to return once restrictions are lifted!
Highly recommend, we both had the signature menu (one pescatarian) and the food was outstanding. Great value as well, you will definitely be full afterwards! Our waiter David was very knowledgable about the food and was generally friendly and chatty without being overbearing. Will 100% be coming back.
It was a delight to see the Ruddy Duck restaurant reopening, even if only temporarily in the library which was beautifully decorated for the occasion. The 5-course tasting menu we enjoyed was outstanding, with standout dishes including the beef cooked two ways served with a delicious potato gratin and a fantastic rhubarb and ginger dessert that showcased local ingredients. Even the kale came from the walled gardens at Wortley Hall! Our servers, David and Brogan, were friendly, knowledgeable, and made our dining experience even more enjoyable. I am still reminiscing about the homemade rhubarb cocktail that David crafted for me a week later. We are looking forward to dining here again soon.
My husband and I visit every year for our wedding anniversary (this year 6 months late thanks to pandemic) and it never disappoints. Beautiful food with out the pretence always welcoming and understated service. We were married at the hall, have celebrated milestone birthdays here and will continue to do so. Looking forward to our next visit. Thank you for a lovely evening!
