Guardhouse
Description
The Guardhouse Restaurant at the Garrison exudes unique historical charm, housed in a building constructed in 1854 which was the sole walled barracks of its kind in Europe. The original cells and guard towers have been impeccably preserved and blend seamlessly with the classic interior decor. Our British-inspired cuisine is crafted using fresh, high-quality ingredients by our talented chefs. Additionally, our bar offers a diverse array of artisan gin, whiskey malts, craft beer, and local real ales for guests to enjoy.

Food looks good from the outside but tasteless and greasy fatty Onion rings dripping with oil. Somewhat undercooked. Garrison Burger extremely greasy and over cooked unseasoned Burger contained chorizo which had been burnt to a crisp and still sent out to my table. As photographed. Bun was dry and chewy (stale) With the burger named after the venue, I expected nice food. Coleslaw was chewey making me think it’s been sat around a while Portion sizes were generous, but I’d rather quality over quantity. Venue decor is dated and needs refreshing, but overall pretty clean. Bathroom was again dated in need of refreshing. Floor visually dirty at time of visit Good selection of beers, stunning building exterior. Old till system meant receiving my refund in cash and waiting around. Burger £14.50 Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2
Have always wanted to dine here however I found the menu and food to be dull and very basic. It was ok for a mid-week meal but I have cooked better at home. Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3
The food at this restaurant was exceptional - generous portions served hot and catering to every palate. The breakfast was also of a very high standard, prepared to order.
