I went to hardwick inn with my family for some dinner and realised that unfortunately due to dietary needs there is nothing on the menu I could eat. I was surprised by this since the hardwick cafe offers many options for my diet type. However that was okay because I understand they cannot cater to everyone, so I decided I will just order sides so my family could still order their meals. Once we ordered it because very clear that sides were not allowed to be ordered if they weren’t ordered for a main meal. This I find confusing since all other places allow sides to be ordered individually. It made my family very uncomfortable as we were almost grilled about which meals our sides would be coming with after them asking 3 times that we are definitely ordering mains. If sides cannot be ordered without a main why have them as a separate part on the menu. It was a very uncomfortable experience. I am fine with have no options but am I supposed to sit there and eat nothing whilst my family eats because you have a restrictive menu and do not allow people to order a side dish? Does this mean due to my diet I am not welcome in your restaurant?
A good choice of Vegetarian and Vegan options that makes a change (nice one Hardwick) My wife had Hardwick's own Vegetable Burger, that she did say was perhaps the best she had ever tasted for a burger, I had the Hardwick's own Stake and Stilton pie that was beautiful, both meals were simple delicious served up lovely and hot as they should be and good portions also, Genuinely great service with a smile, Friday 9th Aug, Thank you we will be returning soon.
Poor, we had the prawn sandwich and scampi and chips, the prawn sandwich came on brown bread cut way to thick each slice was 1/2” and also 1/2 an apple on tbd plate!!,…the chips on both meals were not cooked. Very disappointed and it’s a shame they are serving sub standard food because the location is superb, go for a drink but don’t waste your money on the food.
The Hardwick Inn is a beautiful venue set in the grounds of Hardwick Hall amongst lovely open countryside with an abundance of walks available too. We have eaten here very many times over the last twenty plus years and always been very satisfied with the quality and quantity of the fare on offer, especially the steak pie which is my favourite choice. Here however is where I feel the need to express my dissatisfaction ... Having not been in a position to pay the Hardwick Inn a visit for approximately a year, it was very much noted by my partner and myself that the portion amounts of the main courses were much reduced, despite ordering the full portion sizes . The Hardwick always offered guests much larger portions than what they provide now and that was part of it's appeal for a hard working ex. farmer ! We expect to visit again for an evening meal within the next two or three weeks and hopefully there may be a tad more on our plates ... Why not at least offer the old portion sizes as an option please ? We shall see next visit. Other than that, it's a marvelous pub in every respect .
Decided to go with family for dinner in the sun as we usually have a nice meal here but this visit was not good at all.the egg was hard over cooked and so were the chips. Some of the meat was very fatty and not up to usual standards £27 for a mix grill and i probably ate £15 worth the other meals the chips were terrible and most were left.we did point this out to the waitress
